The League of Legends World Championships 2024 promises high-stakes action. From September 25 to November 2, this year’s Worlds tournament will see the best teams from around the globe battle it out across Europe. Only one team among 20 is destined to be victorious from the month-long bloodbath.

Tournament Schedule and Format

Worlds 2024 follows a slightly refined tournament format, featuring three elimination stages. Mark your calendars for the following events:

  • Play-In Stage: September 25-29

Out if eight teams will compete in two double-elimination brackets, only four will be able to advance to the next stage. 

  • Swiss Stage: October 3-13

Twelve teams plus the four from  the Play-Ins will fight for survival in a five-round Swiss format. Teams with three wins progress, while those with three losses are eliminated. 

  • Knockout Stage: October 17-November 2

The final eight teams will enter a single-elimination bracket. All matches in this stage are best-of-five series. This is where champions are made, and dreams are shattered.

The Grand Finals is scheduled on November 2,  where the remaining top two most skilled contenders will face off in an ultimate showdown. The winning team will be crowned Worlds 2024 champions.

Tournament Venues

Riot Games has decided to bring Worlds 2024 to the stages of three European cities. The journey will make its stops at grand arenas in Germany, France, and England.

The tournament will begin in the Riot Games Arena in Berlin with the initial Play-Ins and Swiss Stage, determining the teams that will move forward to the next city.  After teams advance to the Knockout Stage, the Adidas Arena in Paris will be the venue of battles between teams eager to land a spot in the grand finals. Worlds 2024 will conclude in London’s famous O2 Arena, where the two best teams enter a final face off for the Summoner’s Cup and eternal glory.

Fans and viewers at home will also be able to follow the Worlds 2024 journey as it is streamed in English on Twitch and YouTube and through regional broadcast channels in the local language.

A total of 20 teams from different regions will be competing for the coveted Summoner’s Cup this year. While others are still competing for a place in the roster, some powerhouse teams have already secured their spots.

Fan favorite Gen.G directly qualified to the Swiss Stage after their MSI championship. The team has already drawn the interest of many as they aim to complete the “Golden Road” by taking the Worlds gold as well. Bilibili Gaming are LPL champs hailing from the Chinese pro league scene, entering as strong contenders. European LEC champions G2 Esports are also aiming for the Worlds trophy and rising stars Team Liquid are representing North America after an impressive LCS run.
