This is a big question that has been around since the creation of the jungle in League of Legends: should you leash your jungler or not? Helping your jungler in the early stages of a match has been a common practice in League for a long time. However, this help can often cost you a lot at the beginning of your laning phase. With this in mind, a Reddit user questioned whether it is worth helping your ally at the beginning of the game.
Do you really have to help jungle on the leash?

The user and League of Legends fan explains: “Your jungle clear speed will only be affected for about 2-3 seconds if you help. You run the risk of losing your lane completely due to the lack of priority,” suggesting that the negative impact on the lane is greater than the positive impact for the jungler. Along the same lines, the author of the post mentions that the risk of giving the leash can generate a negative snowball effect and make you lose control of your lane: “The reward of giving your jungler a small advantage is outweighed by the risk of potentially being pushed and losing your entire lane”, stating that having lane priority in the early game is much more advantageous than speeding up the clearing of your ally’s jungle.

Other players also gave their opinions on this discussion raised by the author of the post and on the risk of helping the jungler in the early game. A Reddit user, for example, mentioned his experience as a jungler and why he prefers not to receive help: “This reveals my position unnecessarily. The worst is when you want to make your way to the top and the support will help after you ping him to go to the lane, and the ADC is caught alone”. However, the same player also highlighted a counterpoint: “You are correct that ‘leashing’ is not worth it right now. Lane presence matters much more. But what do you mean ‘weakside is not a thing’? Weakside is definitely a real thing. Low elo players often have a hard time identifying when it occurs, but it is definitely a thing that exists.”
