League of Legends’ gameplay design lead talks about Patch 14.14 changes

The changes in patch 14.14 will not please those who like to use AP champions in the jungle. This is because, among the major changes that Riot announced that will be included in this new patch, junglers with AP damage will be greatly negatively affected. This trend, in fact, began to appear as of patch 14.12.

However, what is seen today as a change that almost makes it impossible for champions who use ability power in the jungle, is treated by Riot quite naturally, reinforcing that they do not want to end this trend in the role.

Riot Phroxzon, League of Legends’ gameplay design lead, spoke about the result he wants to achieve with the changes to ability power junglers:

“Our idea is to continue putting AP champions in a good position in the jungle after we added the Black Flame Torch item, which allows even more AP champions to jungle and increases the variety of this class in this role. Our philosophy when creating these items is to first get the game systems in the right place and then adjust the characters”, in addition:
“The nerfs in this update are aimed at continuing to put these champions in the right place, balancing them (Lilia, Nida and Zyra). If there is instability in the short term, we will act as quickly as possible to maintain the health of the game and the diversity of this role.”

Are Corki and Tristana too strong? Rioter doesn’t think so

Another Riot employee who also showed his face and spoke about the changes was Riot August, responsible for the design of League of Legends champions, who commented on the situation of characters like Corki and Tristana. The Rioter also discussed the ability power junglers in his explanation of this match-up:
