Riot Games is finally gearing up to launch the Closed Beta for 2XKO, their new tag-based fighting title that’s all themed around the League of Legends universe. Starting from September 9, 2025, the Beta will give players a first proper look (and feel) at Riot’s fresh attempt on the 2v2 fighter formula. It’s fast-paced, full of LoL champions, and also it will support cross-platform progression too.
Playable Champions in This Beta
The game’s Beta will kick off with a lineup of eight playable League champs, all tailored to fit the 2v2 tag team gameplay model:
- Ahri
- Yasuo
- Darius
- Illaoi
- Ekko
- Jinx
- Braum
- Vi (brand new for this Beta)

Vi, who is being added in this test phase, brings in a power-brawler feel to the roster. She’ll use her signature Hextech gauntlets and will definitely appeal to fans of punch-heavy playstyles.

Already Part of the Alpha Lab?
If you’re a PC Alpha Lab tester, you’re automatically going to be in the Beta. No extra step needed. On the other hand, console Alpha testers will need to re-register via the Riot Client on PC, or you won’t be able to get in.
Bonus: Try It Early at EVO 2025
Before the online Beta kicks off, Riot’s bringing a playable hands-on demo to EVO 2025, which happens in Las Vegas from August 1–3. Attendees there will get the opportunity to try Vi out early and see how the game really plays in person.
2XKO is Riot’s first major attempt at fighting games mixing Runeterra’s iconic characters with more accessible but still competitive 2v2 gameplay. If you’re a long-time League fan, or even just slightly interested in fighting games that aren’t too technical to jump into, the Closed Beta might be the right entry point.
