Riot Games has revealed the preview of the League of Legends patch 12.9. The new patch will bring significant changes to the game, including mid-scope updates for two champions. Pyke, Olaf, Renekton, and Taliyah are all set to receive major adjustments while Ahri, Sion, Master Yi, and Rengar will be hit by a nerf.

League of Legends Patch 12.9 preview was revealed yesterday by the Lead Designer for Game Balance Matt Leung-Harrison, who shared the details of the upcoming patch on his Twitter account.

Champions adjustments

Taliyah

Taliyah has been suffering from low play rates for many years before Riot Games finally decided to give a boost to the underrated champ to increase its chances of being picked by players. Patch 12.9 will bring significant adjustments, including a rework to Taliyah’s abilities which will enhance her crowd control, making it more reliable in solo-queue and professional plays. The most notable change to Tailyah’s kit is that her Threaded Volley ability will have the area of effect damaged again.

Olaf

The new patch will bring crucial changes to Olaf as well. The jungle champion will receive a shield upon using Vicious Strikes. Moreover, his ultimate can be extended simply by attacking other champions. Whilst these buffs are certainly going to impact Olaf’s pick rate, his jungle clearing speed will be taken down to balance the buff.

Pyke

Next on Riot’s list of adjustments is Pyke. It seems that the champion will become a viable support, as his mid-lane potential will be nerfed with the new patch. Pyke will receive a major nerf to his Death From Below ability, as well as his gold sharing. Moreover, the champion’s solo kills will no longer be counted as assists and he will only receive gold for kills, not assists.

Renekton

Renekton is also going to receive significant adjustments to his ability kit. His Dominos ability, his AD growth and HP are all going to receive a buff. Meanwhile, his Ruthless Predator ability will be nerfed on level 1 and be boosted on the following levels.

Sion

Riot decided to downgrade Sion’s after-death status in order to undermine his dominance in the top lane. As a result, his zombie state damage has been reduced from 100% to 40%. However, more concerning for those who love Sion in the top lane is the item nerf to Hullbreaker.

Apart from all the buffs, nerfs and adjustments to the game, Riot Games has also added multiple Solar and Lunar Eclipse skins for Senna, Sejuani, Aatrox, Sivir, and Kayle. The new batch of skins along with a plethora of changes to the League of Legends champions will go live on Wednesday, May 11, as a part of the patch 12.9.
