LCS Spring 2021 is the first split of the new League of Legends season in North America. The tournament is scheduled to take place between February 5th – April 11th and features 10 teams. Because of its weekly format, you’ll be able to enjoy a lot of great matches and get regular updates on the situation.

LCS Spring 2021 Details

LCS Spring 2021 includes the following teams:

  • 100 Thieves
  • Cloud9
  • Counter Logic Gaming
  • Dignitas
  • Evil Geniuses
  • FlyQuest
  • Golden Guardians
  • Immortals
  • Team Liquid
  • TSM

Normally, the big favorites would be Team Liquid and TSM. But given the numerous roster changes that took place after Worlds 2020, it is not clear at all what the real pecking order is. All we have to rely on are the results of LCS Lock-In 2021:

  • 1st place: Team Liquid
  • 2nd place: Cloud9
  • 3rd – 4th place: 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses
  • 5th – 8th place: FlyQuest, Golden Guardians, Immortals, TSM
  • 9th – 10th place: Counter Logic Gaming, Dignitas

By the looks of things, Team Liquid and Cloud9 are probably the strongest at this point. But we still need to get confirmation of this.

Each team will play a total of 18 matches, 2 against every opponent. These matches will be Bo1. The top 6 competitors qualify for the Mid Season Showdown.

The total prize pool of LCS Spring 2021 is $200,000. The money will be offered to the top 4 teams.

Team Analysis

Here’s a brief analysis of the most interesting competitors that will take part in LCS Spring 2021:

Team Liquid

Team Liquid is probably the strongest team in the region, but we’ll need to wait and see how well they play in their first 5 matches. Liquid’s problem is similar to that of other organizations: they lost 2 valuable players after Worlds 2020 and have replaced them with players of arguably lesser skill. So far, they didn’t disappoint. In fact, they won the tournament that came before LCS Spring 2021. So in that regard, we should be optimistic.

TSM

Having lost almost its entire roster, TSM is far from being one of the big favorites in this tournament. Last year, Bjergsen and the rest of his crew managed to win LCS Summer 2020 in spectacular fashion, but got completely destroyed at Worlds 2020. It remains to be seen what the new roster can do but so far they’ve disappointed, finishing 5th – 8th at LCS Lock-In 2021.

Cloud9

Having legendary players like Perkz and Sven in their roster, Cloud9 seems to be among the favorites this year. Their latest result was quite good: 2nd place at LCS Lock-In 2021. And they almost won against Liquid in the Grand Final (2 – 3). The roster is made up of 3 members that have been playing together for more than a year and 2 members that are new. In particular, you should be watching the Top laner (Fudge). If he delivers, the whole team should do well all year. Because the rest of the roster looks solid.

100 Thieves

Apart from Ssumday, 100 Thieves has a completely new roster. So far, they finished 3rd – 4th at LCS Lock-In 2021. And they came close to winning the Semifinals. Based on that, there’s a good chance that we’ll see this competitor near the top. But the individual players don’t look spectacular. Or at least, their strength is unconfirmed at this point.
