The South Korean League of Legends Summer split is about to enter the fifth competitive week and so far, two teams have dominated the group stage — T1 and Gen.G Esports. Both of them are looking for interesting matches this week, however, they won’t face each other.

Overall, the league looks a bit divided ahead of the start of LCK Summer Week 5, with the leadership split between several strong teams and everyone else. This can create a competitive climate that leads to complacency, which in turn can lead to poor results in international tournaments such as Worlds.

LCK Summer results so far

There are five more weeks to go until the group stage concludes, with six teams advancing to the playoffs. Based on the results so far, Gen.G Esports, T1, and SANDBOX Gaming seem to be currently the strongest squads that are very likely to qualify. While DAMWON, DRX, and Freecs are currently in the top six as well, their spot in playoffs is far less secure.

Ahead of the fifth competitive week of LCK Summer 2022, the rankings table looks like this:

  • Gen.G Esports: 7W – 1L
  • T1: 7W – 1L
  • SANDBOX Gaming: 6W – 2L
  • DAMWON Gaming: 5W – 3L
  • DragonX: 5W – 3L
  • Freecs: 4W – 4L
  • KT Rolster: 3W – 5L
  • Nongshim RedForce: 2W – 6L
  • Hanwha Life Esports: 1W – 7L
  • Brion Esports: 0W – 8L

 Week 5 matches and schedule

The upcoming LCK Summer 2022 Week 5 will feature a total of 10 matches, with each day between July 13-17 offering two best-of-three battles. Here’s the schedule and predictions:

  • T1 vs. Hanwha Life: July 13, 10am CEST
  • SANDBOX Gaming vs. Gen.G: July 13, 1pm CEST
  • KT Rolster vs. DRX: July 14, 10am CEST
  • DAMWON vs. Freecs: July 14, 1pm CEST
  • Nongshim RedForce vs. Brion: July 15, 10am CEST
  • SANDBOX vs. Hanwha Life: July 15, 1pm CEST
  • KT Rolster vs. Freecs: July 16, 10am CEST
  • T1 vs. DragonX: July 16, 1pm CEST
  • Brion vs. DAMWON: July 17, 10am CEST
  • Nongshim RedForce vs. Gen.G: July 17, 1pm CEST

By far, the most important matches of the week will be obviously those featuring the favorites. If you want to watch strong teams fighting for one of the top positions, the clashes of SANDBOX vs. Gen.G, DAMWON vs. Freecs, and T1 vs. DragonX are the matches to watch.

Because of how the LCK works, the most significant battle during the group stage is for the first two positions in the league. Because those positions offer direct access to the semifinals. The next four teams in line advance to the quarterfinals. So far, T1 and Gen.G seem the most likely teams to finish in the top two.
