Recent CS:GO news has focused chiefly on the expected release of its Source 2 port and rumors about Valve’s creation of a shooter installment over ten years old. Rumors about the move to Source 2 have been reinforced by the most recent patch of Dota 2, in which a new hero was introduced.

Recall that Dota 2 was the first game to switch from the older Source engine to the newer Source 2. Also using the same engine are games such as Robot Repair, Artifact, Dota Underlords, Half-Life: Alyx, and Aperture Desk.

Latest Dota 2 patch reveals some Counter-Strike 2 details

Speculations and strong rumors about the long-awaited migration of CS:GO from Source to Source 2 have been going on for years. However, the most recent discussions about the engine switch began when new gameplay profiles were discovered in the NVIDIA driver update a few days ago. Now, Dota 2 update 7.32e also shows some details on this topic.

The most recent Dota 2 update provides a wealth of information about the impending jump to the Source 2 engine by Valve’s shooter. According to recent Tweets from @gabefollower, who has constantly been covering the situation. The user posted many screenshots with the phrase “CSGO” in bold on lines that also included the words “parity maps,” “staff,” “zoo,” “materials,” “spray kit,” and “models.”

On the other hand, recently, the user posted a Tweet again where he points out that he does not believe the new game will introduce 128 tick servers, as commented recently. Gabefollower2 said:

“I don’t think CS:GO on Source 2 will introduce a 128 tick rate, based on new strings in Dota 2 updates, devs are working on a new “tickless / subtick” system.”

As mentioned, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been around for over ten years. This tells us how much the game has managed to stand the test of time. However, many casual and professional players have increasingly complained about the technical restrictions that the game can have. That is why some of these features are expected to be improved with the switch to the new Source 2 engine.

It is not the first time that these rumors have been so strong.

This is not the first time that rumors are circulating among players about the upgrade to the CS:GO Source 2 engine. However, it seems that now if the desire of many will come true, as it is expected that in the coming weeks, we will have the beta of Counter-Strike 2.

Different users found similar files in a Dota 2 update in 2020, which led them to make the same claim and to raise these conversations in the past.

Hopefully, we will have more information about it as the days pass. Unfortunately, neither Valve nor the official Counter-Strike Twitter account has denied or confirmed these rumors. So we don’t know whether to take this in a good way or if they are ignoring the community to avoid more controversy.

But, the fact that even the organizations themselves are talking about it, it looks pretty likely that we will be in the world of the new Counter-Strike 2.
