KRÜ Esports have eliminated Sentinels from VCT Americas Stage 2 after a convincing 2-0 victory in the lower bracket of the Play-Ins. Earlier in the day, G2 Esports also survived elimination with a straight-map victory over BESTIA, leaving four teams fighting for the final two playoff positions.
For Sentinels, the defeat ends a turbulent 2026 campaign without a single international appearance. KRÜ, meanwhile, remain in contention for a place in the VCT Americas playoffs and ultimately Champions Shanghai.
G2 sweep BESTIA behind BABYBAY’s Chamber
G2 entered their elimination series against BESTIA after an inconsistent Stage 2 campaign that had raised questions about the team’s identity and agent compositions.
Against BESTIA, however, G2 found an effective solution. BABYBAY operated exclusively on Chamber and helped his side take control of both maps.
BESTIA selected Breeze but immediately fell behind. G2 produced a dominant defensive half to establish a 9-3 advantage. The Chilean side responded with four consecutive rounds after the switch, briefly threatening a comeback, but G2 regained control and closed the map 13-8.
- Breeze: G2 13-8 BESTIA
- Ascent: G2 13-5 BESTIA
- BABYBAY played Chamber on both maps
- BESTIA were eliminated from VCT Americas Stage 2
G2 then returned to Ascent, a map they had not played during Stage 2 before this series. Their composition featured Chamber and Vyse as a double-Sentinel pairing, with jawgemo’s Yoru acting as the only Duelist.
The gamble worked. G2 led 8-4 at halftime and accelerated after the break. A crucial 2v4 retake from leaf and valyn helped secure the second pistol round, after which G2 converted the anti-eco and bonus rounds to put BESTIA under overwhelming pressure.
G2 ultimately completed the sweep without allowing BESTIA to build meaningful momentum on either map.
KRÜ end Sentinels’ 2026 season
The second elimination match carried even greater consequences.
Sentinels entered the series needing a victory to keep their season alive after defeating 2Game Esports 2-0 in the previous lower-bracket round. KRÜ had similarly survived elimination by sweeping Fluxo W7M.
KRÜ’s Ascent pick produced an unusual first half. Sentinels won the pistol and anti-eco before KRÜ took the bonus round. The following ten rounds alternated between the teams, creating a 7-5 Sentinels lead at halftime.
The game changed completely after the switch.
Less dominated on defense, recording 13 of his 19 kills during KRÜ’s defensive half. Sentinels failed to win another round, allowing KRÜ to complete a flawless defensive side and take Ascent 13-7.
| Match | Map 1 | Map 2 | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| G2 vs BESTIA | 13-8 Breeze | 13-5 Ascent | G2 2-0 |
| KRÜ vs Sentinels | 13-7 Ascent | 13-8 Haven | KRÜ 2-0 |
Eight straight rounds finish Sentinels on Haven
Sentinels chose Haven for the second map, with both teams running matching compositions built around Phoenix, Neon, Cypher, Omen and Sova.
SEN again managed to reach halftime ahead 7-5. They also won the second pistol round, seemingly putting themselves in position to force a deciding map.
Instead, KRÜ turned the match around with an eco victory immediately afterward.
That round completely changed the momentum. KRÜ proceeded to win eight consecutive rounds, shutting Sentinels out and completing the series 2-0.
- KRÜ remain alive in the Stage 2 Play-Ins
- Sentinels finish VCT Americas in 7th-8th place
- SEN will miss every international VALORANT event in 2026
- G2 and KRÜ each need one more win to reach the playoffs
The result confirms Sentinels’ worst regional finish at the end of a season since the VALORANT partnership era began.
Sentinels’ constant changes fail to produce stability
The elimination completes a difficult year for one of VALORANT’s most recognizable organizations.
Sentinels used seven players, two head coaches and two stand-ins across 2026 as the organization repeatedly attempted to find a stable formula. Those changes never produced the sustained improvement required to challenge at the international level.
The contrast with recent seasons is significant. Sentinels reached five of the six international events held across 2024 and 2025, including both editions of Champions.
In 2026, they will not appear internationally at all.
KRÜ have now ended that streak while preserving their own hopes of qualifying for Champions Shanghai.
G2 and KRÜ face final elimination matches
Neither G2 nor KRÜ have secured a playoff place yet.
The final day of the VCT Americas Stage 2 Play-Ins will decide the remaining lower-bracket qualifiers. G2 are scheduled to face ENVY, while KRÜ will meet Evil Geniuses.
Both series are win-or-go-home matches. The winners advance into the playoffs, while the losers join BESTIA and Sentinels on the sidelines.
Assessment
For KRÜ, eliminating Sentinels is an important result, but the job remains unfinished. Their defensive performances against SEN showed strong resilience, particularly after falling behind at halftime on both maps.
G2’s victory carries similar significance. Their Chamber-focused approach with BABYBAY gave the roster a clearer identity than it had shown during parts of Stage 2, but ENVY will provide another test before that adaptation can be considered a lasting solution.
Sentinels face the more difficult questions. Frequent roster and coaching changes failed to produce consistent results, and an entire season without an international appearance represents a major step backward for a team accustomed to competing on VALORANT’s biggest stages.
The offseason now becomes crucial as Sentinels evaluate how much of the current structure should remain for 2027.
