The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Group Stage kicked off a few days ago, and we already have several teams hitting the table.

Let’s start with the fact that Rogue (KOI) continues its mission to defend its championship title. This is because they managed to qualify for the semifinals of the LEC. It was a very comfortable victory for the Spanish team against Team Vitality, one of the great favorites and candidates to win this tournament. With this victory, KOI got the first direct ticket to the LEC semifinals.

KOI crushes Team Vitality and qualifies for the semifinals of the LEC

As mentioned, KOI comfortably defeated the French squad to take first place in Group A of the LEC and advance directly to the tournament’s semifinals. Ibai Llanos and Gerard Piqué’s team gave a real lesson on how to play competitive League of Legends and became clear favorites after destroying the regular phase champion.

First map

There is no doubt that KOI continues at a spectacular level of play, and thanks to their classic style of play, they managed to crush the regular phase champion Team Vitality on the first map. Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos carried KOI during this first map for a great victory.

The Spanish managed to win very easily against the French thanks to the techno-chemical soul and the Elder Dragon. At one point in the match, Vitality tried to put the map to sleep so that Kyeong “Photon” Gyu-tae and his Gwen could try to turn things around. However, KOI prevented each of Vitality’s strategies and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Second map

The second map was more than similar. KOI continued their absolute domination over Team Vitality to take the series with a big 2-0 victory.

Undoubtedly, the change in the metagame and the return to the classic style that made Rogue one of the best in the world suits KOI extraordinarily well. On the other hand, in the second map, Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong was in charge of closing all the doors for Team Vitality to take the victory. KOI knew precisely how to stop each one of Zhou “Bo” Yangbo’s and his team’s insinuations.

There is no doubt that this is a giant step forward for KOI. It also becomes one of the semifinalists in the LEC, and its mission to retain the title is still alive. So now, the organization chaired by the content creator, Ibai Llanos, advances to the tournament’s final phase. The matches will be played BO5, and they will face G2 Esports in the final of the Upper Bracket.

The table is set for KOI to lift the title champion of the LEC Winter Split 2023.
