The 1.4.4 update introduces a distinctive role called Kira’s Spokesperson, designed as an alternative to the usual Kira Follower. This new position enables players to discreetly assign “Kira’s Kingdom Cards” to nearby Investigators. Usually, up to two cards may be distributed per game day, but game hosts have the flexibility to adjust this number in the room options.
A notable mechanic is triggered if an Investigator, holding one of these special cards, is apprehended. That Investigator will be classified as a collaborator and barred from carrying out further investigative tasks. If the detained Investigator is L, then the Kira team is declared the winner. There is a specific disadvantage for those taking on the Kira’s Spokesperson role. If apprehended, they are automatically detained regardless of what identification they possess. Their ownership of “Kira’s Kingdom Cards” is always detectable, resulting in inevitable capture.
For other Investigators, it becomes almost impossible to tell whether someone is the Kira’s Spokesperson or just another Investigator holding a kingdom card, adding a fresh layer of doubt during the investigation phase. The Kira’s Spokesperson can also gather identification items, similar to a Kira Follower, but does not have Rem’s surveillance abilities to track others in real time.
Additional tweaks in this update include a new premium avatar—Light Yagami in a shirt—and a fifth set of customization options for players. Searching and creating rooms now provide preferences for chat and voice language. The interface for finding or forming rooms has been refined to display settings regarding player needs and play styles. Stability improvements have also been incorporated for a smoother experience.
