Standout Australian jungler Shane “Kevy” Allen has joined Counter Logic Gaming Academy, the organization reported.

Kevy broke out in Oceania’s LCO last year, taking home both MVP and Rookie of the Split honours during Summer 2021. In Spring 2022, Kevy and ORDER went one better, winning the LCO and earning a place at MSI 2022.

Kevy moves to the LCSA

LCS orgs have long been scouting Kevy but were given a chance to see him on the international stage at MSI. While ORDER went 0-8 in a difficult group containing G2 and Evil Genuises, Kevy was still able to show the world what he could do. While the group meant that on paper, Kevy’s stats were relatively unimpressive. However, on the Rift, the watching world was treated to flashes of brilliance. The most memorable of these was a Baron steal executed against G2.

Kevy will now have the chance to develop his skills with the team that won the Spring split in the LCS Academy league, joining fellow Australian Stephen “Triple” Li, who plays in the mid lane for CLG Academy. With the confirmation of the move, Kevy becomes the seventh active Oceanic player in the LCS Academy league.

Whether he can stay in the league is another question. While moves to North America from Oceania are increasingly common, they don’t always pan out. Vincent “Violet” Wong took a similar path to Kevy — signing with an LCS academy after appearing at an international tournament. However, Violet was released by Golden Guardians Academy on May 11 after being signed from LCO Summer 2021 champions PEACE in November 2021.

Kevy’s journey will begin when the LCS Academy Summer split kicks off at a time yet to be announced.
