Based on recent reports, it appears that Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen is set to sign a new three year deal with Team Liquid, worth an eye watering $4.2 million. Should both parties sign on the dotted line, Jensen would become the highest paid player in LCS history, which would be a major piece of news ahead of the 2010 LCS Spring Split. The news was broken by League of Legends reporter Travis Gafford.

Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong signed a three-year deal with Team Liquid back in 2017, worth an estimated $3.4 million, while Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon agreed a contract worth $2.3 million upon signing with Dignitas just last year. However, the contract offered to Jensen is significantly larger, demonstrating just how important the Dane has become to Liquid.

Why Team Liquid are Spending Big to Retain Jensen

The 25-year-old is set to rejoin Liquid for the upcoming season, despite failing to make it through to the playoffs at the 2020 World Championship alongside his teammates. The team did finish in first place in their respective group at the international event this year, having been seeded third. However, Liquid would ultimately fall short at the Summoner’s Cup, following Suning’s victory over G2 Esports in the Group A tie-breaker encounter.

Can We Expect Additional Moves from Liquid Ahead of the New Season

Liquid had been linked with a move for popular European top laner Barney “Alphari” Morris, with the Brit seemingly closing in on a long-term deal worth over $1 million, despite having only arrived at Astralis back in September. Nothing has been made official of yet, however with the 20/21 League of Legends free agency window opening on November 16 at 6pm CT, fans should not have to wait much longer for an announcement on Jensen’s future.

Jensen started his professional career with Team Solo Mebd back in 2012, before moving to SK Gaming as a coach at the beginning of 2014. The Dane then spent over three years with Cloud9, where he finished 3-4th at the 2018 World Championship, before moving to Team Liquid in November the same year.
