The renowned North American mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and legendary bot laner Yiliang “Peter” “Doublelift” Peng will team up again under the 100 Thieves banner for LCS 2023.

As the North American organization prepares to start fresh in the 2023 season, Doublelift and Bjergsen, two of the most iconic League of Legends players and former teammates, have joined 100 Thieves. AnDoublelift, an eight-time LCS champion, has almost 10 years of professional gaming experience, having previously played for Counter Logic Gaming, Team Liquid, and TSM.

As a member of TSM, the 29-year-old Doublelift last participated in league play in 2020, leading the team to a domestic victory and the eighth championship of his remarkable career. After a great stint that included eight LCS Championships and an MVP Award, he announced his retirement from the game in November 2020. In March 2021, he signed up with TSM to work as a streamer and content creator. His time as a content creator was short-lived since he totally left TSM in November 2021 due to disagreements with the organization’s owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh.

The legendary duo will return to the Summoner’s Rift soon

Two of the best League of Legends players in North America will team up once more to bring the region back to the top of the standings. Doublelift and Bjergsen last competed together in 2020 while representing Team Liquid. Despite winning the LCS championship, the star-studded lineup had trouble maintaining consistency, as they didn’t win a single match in the group stage of the 2020 World Championship. The organization experienced huge changes as a result of this disastrous loss, from the roster to the coaching staff. Doublelift retired from professional play and Bjergsen took over as head coach of Liquid for the 2021 season.

100 Thieves starts fresh with a mixed lineup

After using the same lineup for three consecutive seasons, 100 Thieves’ new chapter is inaugurated by the pairing of Doublelift and Bjergsen. The old 100T roster advanced to three straight LCS Finals and even took home the first LCS trophy in the organization’s history by winning the 2021 LCS Summer. However, after the team’s subpar performance at the 2022 World Championship, it was clear that significant changes were coming.

Right after the worlds, the organization parted ways with General Manager Christopher “PapaSmithy” Smith, longtime player Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho, and up-and-coming bot laner Victor “FBI” Huang. As the team starts fresh, two veterans, Bjergsen and Doublelift, will cover the mid and bottom lanes, while three young and upcoming players will fill the remaining three spots. While the new management re-signs their star jungler Can “Closer” elik aa as the fifth member, Tenacity, and Busio are promoted from 100T’s academy roster.
