Is The New Valorant Agent, Vyse, Related to Omen?

A new agent is about to bring chaos to the Valorant lore. Who is this new agent, Vyse, and what’s her relationship with Omen?

A reveal of Valorant’s new agent, Vyse, has opened hot discussions in the community. Her trailer raised speculation on her backstory and potential connections to existing characters. An intriguing theory particularly arises about her possible link to an enigmatic agent of Valorant, Omen.  

As fans anticipate her arrival in the game, let’s dive into the lore and evidence surrounding Vyse, the new valorant agent, in relation to other agents. 

The Mystery Surrounding Vyse’s Origins

Mystery entails the introduction of the new agent, Vyse, in the Valorant universe. The fans can’t help but question her nature and the sorts of experiments she endured. This is due to her first appearance in the Abyss map trailer, where her body is trapped inside an hourglass-shaped container. 

The biggest question about Vyse’s character lies in whether she is a human. People have been trying to connect the dots on her possible nature, which leads to the conclusion that she is a Radivore, an animal variant of Radiant. 

Notably, Vyse abilities relate to flora, where she can create metal roses and thorns. This deduction is supported by the mention of ZN35 in the Kingdom facility announcements. The escaped Radivore can disguise itself as flora, which furthers the suspicions about Vyse’s identity.  

The reveal trailer for Vyse fuels speculation as it failed to show her face while her eyes appear non-human with a yellow glow. She also emanates yellow smoke from her mask to add otherworldliness to her character. 

The Omen Connection

As of now, it will be tough to draw a connection between Vyse and Omen since the new cinematic doesn’t explicitly delve into it. So far, Riot has only teased a direct tie between the agents to further intrigue the fans about the character.  

The fans can only connect one thing to another through Omen’s backstory. With Omen in a long search for the truth about his existence and the cure for his condition, people are assuming that Vyse faced a similar situation. This made the two connect instantly, as they could relate to each other’s struggles. 

Abilities That Blur the Lines

In the introduction of Vyse’s kit, her character seemingly fits the Sentinel role. However, Riot included some unique elements about this agent to set her apart from others. In her abilities, it is included that she can create invisible, deployable roses (Arc Rose). She can also draw hidden traps that form short-lived walls (Shear) for both tactical defensive and offensive use. 

On top of these, her ultimate ability, Steel Garden, can jam enemies’ primary weapons. With this, the opponents are forced to switch to secondary firearms or melee weapons to put them at a disadvantage. Her ability to manipulate and control the battlefield echoes some of Omen’s reality-bending powers. 

The Radiant and Radivore Connection

With how far things went in the Valorant universe, it already established the existence of Radiants and Radivores. To recall, Radiants are individuals with supernatural abilities, while Radivores serve as their animal counterparts.

As Vyse is suspected to be related to the Radivore ZN35 that escaped, the community is talking about the possibility of her being a human-Radivore hybrid. This can be the explanation for her plant-based abilities and potentially link to Omen’s own mysterious origins.  

With all that, it seems certain that Omen and Vyse are not humans. It is assumed that they stand in a gray area between something else. This can be a key factor as to why they seem to have direct ties with one another. The two possibly shared experiences of being experimented on and their possible non-human nature.

What This Means for Valorant’s Future

We are seeing an expansion of the Valorant lore as Riot Games adds new characters to the game. These agents may possibly be the key to answering the questions surrounding the mysterious backstory of agents. Yet, at the same time, they might also cause more confusion in these stories.  

As Valorant explores the ties between Vyse and Omen, it can possibly shed light on the nature of Radiants and the experiments of organizations like Kingdom. With that, it can open broader conflicts to shake things up in the Valorant universe.  

For now, players can look forward to Vyse’s release in Episode 9 Act 2, beginning shortly after August 28, 2024. Until then, fans can speculate and theorize on her backstory and connection to Omen.
