According to Moore’s Law is Dead, Intel is currently preparing an entry-level Alchemist gaming GPU with 6GB of GDDR6 memory and 8 Xe-HPG cores. Moreover, this particular SKU will be released in both laptop and desktop variants, with the former launching in Q1 2022 and the latter following right afterward in Q2.

It goes without saying, but the budget segment of the market will soon become a bona fide battlefield, with all three tech companies working on entry-level offerings. And, well, we can’t wait to see it all transpire as we’re itching for some budget-friendly graphics cards! Not everyone’s willing to invest a small fortune. In fact, most of us just want a no-frills, 1080p GPU that’ll hit the 60FPS mark and not cost an arm and a leg. That’s pretty much it; nothing more, nothing less.

Unfortunately, with the ongoing semiconductor shortages (not the mention the whole crypto craze), AMD and NVIDIA have been hesitant to ship anything but the most beastly graphics cards. Be that as it may, there’s finally a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!

Intel Alchemist Gaming GPU — Modest In Power, But Still Sufficient

This particular SKU will have 128 execution units with up to 6GB of GDD6 memory over a 96-bit bus. The laptop variant will, naturally, be somewhat gimped with a 64-bit bus. MLID expects it to be about as powerful as the NVIDIA GTX 1650 SUPER, if not even edge it out in certain workloads and scenarios.

As for TDP, it’ll be rated for 75W meaning you should definitely temper your expectations as it won’t perform any miracles nor will it suffice for the latest and greatest AAA titles. This Intel Alchemist GPU will be geared towards those who are content with 1080p gaming at High(ish) settings. You might be able to push it a bit further depending on the title, but as already mentioned, it’s not going to blow anyone’s mind.

MLID expects it to be priced around $179 if not even less. Now, given the current state of the market, its actual pricing will surely differ, and not in a good way. Fortunately, a gaming GPU with such a meager power draw isn’t going to be of much interest to those partaking in crypto mining, so gamers can definitely breathe a sigh of relief!

If our assumption ends up being correct, Intel will have an absolute winner on its hands! It’s not just the price that’s so alluring but also the many bells and whistles that’ll be included. In any case, we can’t wait for this particular SKU to be unveiled as it ticks all the right boxes in terms of price and performance!
