IEM Kraków 2026: Aurora Gaming and Team Vitality lock in playoffs as Group B explodes

IEM Kraków 2026 has its first confirmed playoff teams – and Group B delivered both a statement win and a clean favorite sweep.

  • Aurora booked its spot in the arena with a 2-0 upset over MOUZ, taking Dust2 (13:7) and Inferno (13:9). HLTV notes this is Aurora’s second big scalp in the group after earlier momentum-building results, and the win guarantees them a playoff berth in the TAURON Arena Kraków portion of the event.
  • Vitality did what No. 1 teams are supposed to do: 2-0 vs 3DMAX on Inferno and Dust2, with Mathieu ZywOo Herbaut again looking like the tournament’s most reliable win condition.

That sets up a spicy Group B upper final: Team Vitality vs Aurora Gaming for seeding – with the winner skipping straight to the semifinals, while the loser drops to the quarterfinals.

s1mple’s BC.Game is out

While Aurora and Vitality punched their tickets, BC.Game were eliminated after losing 2-1 to FaZe Clan in the lower bracket. That ends the tournament for Oleksandr s1mple Kostyliev’s new project in 13th-16th, following a promising Stage 1 but a rougher reality check once they hit the main group stage.

Why this matters: Aurora’s ceiling is suddenly hard to ignore

This isn’t just “another upset.” Beating MOUZ cleanly in a pressure match is the kind of result that changes how teams prep for you – and it forces the bracket to respect you. Now Aurora get a direct measuring-stick series against Vitality, and that’s about as honest a test as CS2 can offer in 2026.

My take: Aurora’s run feels like the rare kind of breakout that’s built on more than a hot map or a lucky veto. If they can take even one map off Vitality in the upper final, I’m ready to call them a legitimate arena threat – not a feel-good storyline. Meanwhile, BC.Game’s exit is a reminder that a star name guarantees attention, not stability; you still need systems that survive bad halves and bad maps.
