Instead, it uses a Life-Drain mechanic which reduces your health for each time you summon. Check this guide to understand how Necromancy Grimoire magic works in Hytale.
Finding Rekindle Embers Grimoire in Hytale
Unlike other items in the game, you cannot craft Necromancy Grimoire through any recipe or workbench. It requires you to search and hunt down Burnt Skeleton Praetorians which are exclusively found in Zone 4. These foes defend the ash-filled regions particularly in the volcanic chambers and charred ruins.
However, they don’t spawn randomly across the map as they are specific in dungeon chambers. It is marked by a scorched stone archway with glowing ember particles. To trigger their spawn, you must clean surrounding skeleton waves first which typically have 15-20 standard enemies.
You must complete this task before the Praetorians appear to succeed. After defeating your enemies, the Praetorians have a chance to drop up to 5 Rekindle Embers Grimoires. Besides this, you can also get random loot that includes rare ores .
Its drop rate is only at approximately 2.5% hence you might need multiple kills before you can secure the grimoire. These enemies will respawn every 20 minutes, so make sure to mark your timer and return to the same chamber.
How to Use the Necromancy Grimoire in Hytale
But before you can use the Rekindle Embers Grimoire, you must have the specific materials first. You have to obtain Piles of Skulls, or Piles of Bones, to function as placeable furniture items. These drop from Skeleton Praetorians or underground in POIs with lesser skeletons.
To use the magic to summon, here’s what you need to follow:
- Equip the Pile of Skulls in your hotbar.
- Place it on the ground in front of you.
- Then, switch to your Necromancy Grimoire by holding the left mouse button.
- Release it once the charge bar fills completely.
A skeleton warrior should surface after doing the process. For each summon, it consumes one Pile of Skulls, one Grimoire paige, and 5% of your maximum health. Theoretically, you can raise unlimited skeletons but also demand extensive grimoires and skull piles.
How Skeleton Minion Behavior and Limitations Work
These summoned skeletons in Hytale perish after 5 minutes or until their summoner dies, depending which occurs first. They are only equipped with basic AI combat including attacking enemies within range while staying near your position. Take note that the skeleton minions will only attack enemies that you personally strike first.
Otherwise, they remain passive unless you dared to fight against the enemies. Also, your own minions can damage you if you stand in their attack paths. So make sure to stay aware of your positioning to prevent blocking their paths.
In addition, the skeletons cannot swing and will only drown if submerged too long in the water. As much as possible, avoid summoning them in water-filled areas to avoid wasting your resources and life. Moreover, these minions can only take 200% increased damage from sunlight in Zone 1 and Zone 3.
Due to this, they are considered useless for surface exploration especially during the daytime. It will only lead them to combust faster than enemies can kill them. Not only that you waste your grimoire pages but also potentially set yourself for doom.
Conclusion
It takes patience to collect the embers you need to use the new Necromancy Grimoire magic in Hytale. Using this, you can summon a skeleton army to fight on your behalf against a flock of enemies. However, be wary of using this as it can quickly drain your life bar and put your resources into waste.
