The Prototype Gun is not unlocked by leveling or other normal means in Battlefield 2042. Rather, players must perform some counted secret tasks across various maps in the Portal. This process is not very clear cut, but step by step you will get to it and soon enough the weapon will be yours.
Collect the Secret Keycard

- The first thing you need is a keycard, which you’ll find on the Battle of the Bulge map.
- You will also need to have the server set to night time in Portal, or the steps will not work.
- Head to the D1 objective, and there will be two angel statues standing. Shoot both wings of the angel on the right side, then shoot the head of the angel on the left.
- Now you will throw some dynamite at the right angel statue and detonate it.
- Next, head towards the graveyard near the E1 objective where there is another angel statue in the middle of the fire ring. Shoot the head off.
- Walk up to it and interact with it. Now you will receive a keycard that will be important for later steps.
Unlock and Equip a Phantom Skin

Now before you proceed, make sure you have unlocked at least one Phantom skin and equipped it. This next step is mandatory. Without a Phantom skin, you cannot survive the laser trap in the secret room. If you go there without it, the lasers simply kill you instantly and all the work you have put in goes up in flames.
Enter Codes on the Hidden Keypad
The second part takes place on the Iwo Jima Conquest map.
Go to C1 objective. Under the stairs adjacent to the big door where the stairs are, you will find the keypad hidden.
Enter these 4 codes in the following order:
250146
613251
515176
441806
When all codes have been entered correctly, the path will be unlocked to the next phase.
Get to the secret room and collect the gun

- Now we will go to the final part of the challenge where you can collect the weapon.
- Start heading towards A1 objective and enter into the red tunnel.
- Climb the rope until you arrive at the doorway that is marked with 47. If you have entered the codes correctly, the door will open.
- Take the elevator, prone and move down to the lower level.
- Use the issued keycard to enter a locked door.
- Enter into the laser room. you will only survive here if you have equipped the Phantom skin, you will die otherwise.
- After this, open the last door. Inside, there is a glass case with the Protopype Gun. Smash the glass and collect the weapon.
Important Notes
- Always use Portal servers so you can manage the map settings and time.
- In Battle of the Bulge, it absolutely has to be night mode or you cannot activate the puzzle.
- It is very useful when you know which the objective points are (D1, E1, C1, A1) so you do not waste time searching.
- The laser room is impossible without the Phantom skin. Don’t forget this.
