Compass of the Rising Gale is back! The highly-coveted Dota 2 WindRanger Arcana from 2020 has come with the winter breeze. Players now have the chance to obtain this ultra rare Arcana with a bonus WindRanger set by participating in the annual Frostivus event.
Frostivus 2024 and Heroes’ Hoard
To celebrate the holiday season with the players, Dota 2 has launched Frostivus 2024 to run until early January 2025. Of course, what’s a festive event without all the rewards it brings? Here is where the Winter 2024 Heroes’ Hoard comes in, with a ton of treasures that await.
Players can draw from a pool of 17 unique hero sets with varying degrees of rarity. With every Heroes’ Hoard chest opened, the chance of getting a hero set with a higher rarity increases. If you’re lucky enough, you may even get multiple sets along with other rewards as you keep opening chests!
Dota 2 WindRanger Fluttering Breeze and Arcana Set
Among the 17 sets you can get by chance from the Hoard, the WindRanger bundle stands out as the rarest one. It’s labelled “Ultra Rare”, and for good reason—it boasts two WindRanger sets in one, including her Arcana.
The first set included in this coveted bundle is the Fluttering Breeze set, which gives WindRanger fairly regular customizations. It has a color scheme of dark green to yellowish green adorning her clothing and her orange hair. It maintains the forest and butterfly theme across the set, giving it a true WindRanger character.
The Arcana set, however, just takes things to the next level. The Compass of the Rising Gale set gives WindRanger a full makeover, to the point where she looks simply straight out of an anime. Highly-detailed clothing in bluish green covers her model, and her signature bow and quiver also get new styles.
In addition, players get a custom channel bar, loading screen, animations, and battle effects. Hero assets, voice lines, and icon styles and animations exclusive to the Arcana are also included. Players can unlock a second style, Reflections of the Gale, with autumnal colors as well when they reach 2,500,000 damage with WindRanger’s Focus Fire skill.
How Can I Get The Compass of the Rising Gale?
Right now, there’s limited time to get the WindRanger Arcana set, Compass of the Rising Gale in Dota 2. As it runs along the Frostivus event, Heroes’ Hoard will also only be available until Frostivus ends. So, players have the pressure to open as many Heroes’ Hoard chests as they can to get the WindRanger Arcana before it vanishes in January.
As mentioned, with every Heroes’ Hoard chests, the probability that you will open one with the WindRanger hero bundle in it also goes up. By 10 chests opened, you will only have about a 0.8% chance to obtain it. It increases to 50%, though, when you get to around 43 chests.
Through player estimates, the 98% chance to get the WindRanger set will fall around 100 chests opened. This is assuming you have poor luck, though, as it’s expected that most players will already get the Fluttering Breeze bundle on their 60th to 70th attempt.
How To Get Heroes’ Hoard Chests?
Each Heroes’ Hoard chest costs roughly $3 in-game, changing depending on where you’re based. You can get a discount by using Crownfall Coins, which will give you three chests for 10 Coins. With this, the estimated costs for getting the set will range from $130 to $300, which would be from 50 to 100 pulls.
Conclusion
When it was first released as part of The International 2020 Battle Pass, the Compass of the Rising Gale already drew a lot of attention for its beauty. Now, it has brought back and maybe even amplified the hype for the set, having lots of players splurging solely to get it.
