Billy the Puppet has arrived in Fortnite as a terrifying, new boss. The horror icon from the popular SAW movie franchise is now hiding in Fortnite Island, and players are tasked to find and defeat him as part of the Battle Royale: Nitemare One quest. Follow our guide to easily take down this new NPC boss in Fortnite’s 2024 Halloween event.
Billy’s Location: Where to find Billy?
Every year, the popular shooting game Fortnite releases Fortnitemares, an event that turns the map into a spooky island haunted with different monster bosses. It also gives players quests that feature exploring creepy locations, finding and defeating bosses, and equipping new items and weapons. Of course, worth all the horror are the various rewards gained from completing these quests.
Location: Freaky Fields
In Nitemare One, the first quest for the horror event, players are assigned to visit Freaky Fields, a POI that can be found on the map. This is located where Reckless Railways used to be. A lone house will stand out in the area: a white house with a black roof. Prepare to enter this house—and face Billy the Puppet.
Billy will have to be summoned before you can fight him. This will give you some time to look for weapons and other essential items to grab until you’re ready to wake him up. Look for:
- Weapon: any shotgun and extra ammo
- Items: shield potions, building materials for defense
Keep in mind that Billy’s pickaxe will far overpower yours due to his faster movement speed and higher damage. A shotgun will give you the easiest and quickest way to get the job done.
Boss Battle Guide: How to defeat Billy?
Billy isn’t the only boss you can find across the haunted island, but he is actually one of the easiest to defeat. Just be ready to maintain some distance and aim for headshots for a higher damage output. After getting to the white house, here’s what you need to do:
- Enter the house through the front door.
- Look for the room with the TV playing a video with Billy’s face.
- Stand in front of the TV.
- Press and hold the “Investigate” button. (Square button on PS5)
As soon as Billy bursts out of the screen, he will begin to chase and attack you with his pickaxe. He will only deal 12 damage per hit with his melee pickaxe attacks, but he has a quick attack speed which can still take you out easily.
- Run and keep your distance as much as possible.
- Shoot at Billy continuously with your shotgun while backing away.
- Aim for headshots to maximize damage (but you can also stick to chipping away at his ≤ 600 health bar with constant fire)
- With consistent damage, the fight should last only around 10-20 seconds)
Rewards When You Find and Defeat Billy in Fortnite
When you’re out to get Billy, make sure you find him and defeat him fast, or be prepared enough to take down a few opponents on your way to summoning him. Other players will be competing with you for Billy’s head, as the one who lands the final blow on this NPC boss will reap the following rewards:
- Boom Billy weapon (3)
- Epic Sovereign Shotgun (1)
- Flowberry Fizz (1)
- Shield Potion (1)
You will also get 20,000 XP for completing the quest. After collecting loot, leave quickly to avoid being eliminated by other players in the area. If you’re just interested in completing the quest, though, landing one shot on Billy and running away will be enough as long as another player defeats him.
The Boom Billy
Among the rewards is the new Fortnite x SAW weapon, the Boom Billy. This is a small, throwable puppet—a miniature version of Billy—that has great explosive power. It can locate and lock onto targets after you throw it, and when it finds one, will deal 75 damage. The next part of the Nitemare One quest will require you to deal 150 damage with the Boom Billies, so throw the maximum of two and let them kamikaze. Achieving this will also give you 20,000 XP.
Haunting in Fortnitemares
Fortnite’s annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares will only run for a limited time. This means players only have a few weeks to participate and complete the new Battle Royale quests and gain extra rewards and XP. While a scary boss like Billy the Puppet can be intimidating, you can easily find and defeat him with this guide. Brave the horrors of the island and take down this puppet monster by following these tips and instructions, and bag all the loot until November 1, when Fortnitemares 2024 ends.
