Honkai Star Rail 3.6 Reveals Evernight as New 5-Star Ice Character: Abilities, Lore, and Banner Details

fragster James Steward 3. August 2025

In the latest drip marketing campaign, Honkai: Star Rail has announced a new 5-star character for Version 3.6. Evernight, her name hinting at growing narrative significance, has a more serious look and carries greater story weight than her predecessors. This sets up expectations of deeper themes surrounding memory, identity, and cosmic-scale ideas.

Rather than being entirely new, Evernight is actually a substantial reimagining of something players may already recognize. As a result, she fits the gameplay more naturally, while the changes in the story allow for a richer integration of her character.

This reveal highlights HoYoverse’s intent to give existing characters more narrative depth, rather than constantly expanding the roster with brand-new faces. It’s a shift that not only surprises longtime players but also blends story and gameplay more cohesively.

Evernight’s an Ice-aligned 5-star character who follows the Path of Remembrance. She’s anticipated to focus on freeze debuffs and area control, which should make her quite strong in multi-layered team setups. Her banner is expected to arrive with version 3.6, currently projected to drop sometime late September, if HoYoverse sticks to their usual six-week schedule.

The reveal also made clear her lore placement, Evernight is connected to the Time Titan Oronyx and the setting of Amphoreus. Lines like “guarding the wish of the mirrored soul” suggest that her journey will likely dive into themes like lost memories, identity duality, and the Trailblazer’s own unfolding role. She’s a limited banner unit and not a swappable form of an existing character, meaning players will need to pull for her separately.

Community reaction so far has been mixed. The visual redesign and tone have earned plenty of praise, though some players have pointed out the unchanged voice may clash with her new persona. This might actually be part of the point, though, as it deepens her portrayal as a reflection or echo of who she once was.

Evernight’s arrival in version 3.6 looks to reshape the story’s direction while turning a familiar character into someone much more layered and significant.
