With a surprising 16:10 victory over FaZe Clan in the finals, Heroic came out on top of Group C at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2022.

The 2022 Blast Fall Groups’ group stage has concluded, with Heroic taking first place in Group C. The Danish team kicked off their Fall Groups campaign with a hard-fought 16:13 victory over BIG in an intense game on Nuke. For the Danish side, René “TeSeS” Madsen delivered an outstanding performance, posting a stellar K/D score of 23/18 and an average damage per round of 93.

He and teammate Casper “cadiaN” Møller, who added 23 kills, far outperformed BIG’s Josef “faveN” Baumann and Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz’s combined showing. Continuing their run in the upper bracket, Heroic encountered the European juggernaut FaZe Clan In the second match. Heroic’s Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard made the battle challenging for FaZe, while the rest of the Danish squad appeared ineffective.

Despite securing a K/D/A of 19/18/3, Jabbi’s was unable to rescue the team from the wrath of FaZe’s formidable duo. Robin “ropz” Kool and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken combined for a total of 41 kills to hand Heroic their first defeat at Fall Groups. However, the Danish team pulled off a stunning comeback in the lower bracket, taking down BIG for the second time. While the first matchup between the two European heavyweights was a complete nail-biter, their second matchup proved to be even more exciting and concluded with a 16:14 score. Martin “stavn” Lund put on an outstanding performance for Heroic, recording a K/D of 28-20 with an average damage per round of 102.0.

Heroic takes down FaZe in the final

Although Heroic put on a brilliant show throughout the event, their performance against FaZe in the final was the highlight of Group C. With victories at IEM Cologne, the PGL Major Antwerp, the ESL Pro League Season, and IEM XVI – Katowice in 2022 alone, FaZe came into the competition in incredible form.

Against all odds, Martin “stavn” Lund and jabbi led Heroic to a strong start and a 9:6 lead at the break. In the second half, the team maintained its momentum and finished the map with a 16:10 victory, upsetting FaZe on one of their strongest maps.

Heroic’s victory allowed them to join the winners of Groups A and B, Astralis, and Natus Vincere in one of the three Play-in stage finals. While FaZe will play directly in the semifinals, BIG and Evil Geniuses have also advanced to the playoffs but have been seeded in the quarterfinals.
