HEROIC and B8 have secured the final two European qualifier spots for IEM Beijing 2026, completing the 16-team field for the $1.25 million Counter-Strike 2 event.
Both teams booked their places on September 4 after defeating Nuclear TigeRES. B8 qualified first with a 2-0 victory in the upper-bracket qualification match, while HEROIC followed later in the consolidation final with another 2-0 win.
Their results finalize a Beijing lineup that already includes some of the strongest teams in Counter-Strike, including Falcons, MOUZ, Natus Vincere, FURIA, G2, FaZe and The MongolZ.
B8 take the direct route
B8 entered the European Closed Qualifier as one of the strongest teams in the field and ultimately justified that position.
The Ukrainian roster started with a 2-1 win against Color before finding another level in the following rounds. EYEBALLERS and HOTU were both beaten 2-0, setting up an upper-bracket qualification match against Nuclear TigeRES.
B8 again delivered a clean series.
- B8 opened the qualifier with a 2-1 victory over Color
- They then swept EYEBALLERS 2-0
- HOTU also lost 0-2
- Nuclear TigeRES were beaten 2-0 for the Beijing ticket
The result gave B8 first place in the Closed Qualifier and ensured that they would not need to survive the lower bracket.
B8 completed their final three qualifier series without dropping a map, underlining the level of control they found as the event progressed.
HEROIC recover after early defeat
HEROIC’s path was much less straightforward.
The newly shaped roster began with a 2-1 victory over 3DMAX but then lost 1-2 to Eternal Fire. That pushed HEROIC into the lower bracket with little margin for error.
From there, the team recovered convincingly.
Color and magic were both defeated 2-0 before HEROIC earned revenge against Eternal Fire in a 2-1 rematch on September 4.
| HEROIC qualifier opponent | Result |
|---|---|
| 3DMAX | 2-1 win |
| Eternal Fire | 1-2 loss |
| Color | 2-0 win |
| magic | 2-0 win |
| Eternal Fire | 2-1 win |
| Nuclear TigeRES | 2-0 win |
That victory sent HEROIC into the consolidation final, where one last match against Nuclear TigeRES stood between them and Beijing.
HEROIC survive Dust2 thriller
The final qualification series started comfortably for HEROIC.
On Ancient, HEROIC dominated the first half 11-1 and eventually closed the map 13-6. susp was particularly effective, finishing the map with 20 kills and a 1.83 Rating 3.0.
Dust2 was completely different.
Nuclear TigeRES pushed HEROIC through regulation and into overtime, with flouzer producing an outstanding individual performance. He recorded 34 kills and finished with a 1.67 rating despite the loss.
HEROIC eventually held on 19-17.
- Ancient ended 13-6 for HEROIC
- HEROIC led the first half of Ancient 11-1
- Dust2 required overtime
- HEROIC closed Dust2 19-17 to win the series 2-0
The second map prevented a potentially dangerous decider and secured HEROIC’s place at IEM Beijing.
Nuclear TigeRES fall just short
Nuclear TigeRES leave the qualifier without a main-event berth despite one of the more impressive underdog runs.
The Russian lineup had already beaten Eternal Fire 2-0 and also defeated magic during its run through the bracket.
Their final day proved much more difficult.
B8 swept them in the first qualification opportunity, dropping Nuclear TigeRES into the consolidation match. HEROIC then repeated the result later that evening.
Even though the final score was another 0-2, Dust2 showed how close Nuclear TigeRES came to forcing the series into a third map.
IEM Beijing field is now complete
The qualifier results complete the 16-team roster for IEM Beijing.
Most of the field was determined through Valve Regional Standings invites, with regional representatives and qualifier teams filling the remaining positions.
Spirit and Vitality had previously declined their invitations, allowing PARIVISION and FaZe to move into the event.
TYLOO also secured the Asian qualifier place after FlyQuest were forced to forfeit their deciding match because of severe network problems between Australia and Singapore.
That leaves B8 and HEROIC as the final additions from Europe.
Assessment
Both teams earned their Beijing places in different ways.
B8 looked increasingly dominant as the qualifier developed and avoided the pressure of a lower-bracket run entirely. Their clean victories over EYEBALLERS, HOTU and Nuclear TigeRES suggest they arrived in strong form.
HEROIC had to show more resilience.
Losing to Eternal Fire early could easily have ended their run, but they responded with three consecutive elimination-series victories before beating Nuclear TigeRES.
IEM Beijing will provide a far more difficult test.
With Falcons, MOUZ, NAVI, FURIA, FaZe and several other elite teams in attendance, neither HEROIC nor B8 will enter as a clear favorite. Their qualifier performances nevertheless show that both rosters can arrive in China with momentum.
The final participant list is now settled, and the focus shifts from qualification toward one of the strongest international CS2 fields of the autumn.
