Atlanta will be the host city for the 2024 Halo Championship Series or HCS Major, with FaZe Clan leading the charge.
This is the third event for the global competitive HALO series, and will take place from July 26-28 in the Gateway Center Arena at Atlanta’s College Park, according to a report from Esports Insider.
96 teams from around the world will compete for only 4 group stage spots. FaZe Clan, four qualifiers, and other HCS partnered teams will battle it out for the title and to claim the biggest share of the US$250,000 prize pool.
Esports Insider also reported that the HCS Atlanta Major will also play host to a US$5,000 free-for-all tournament which will be open to spectators and players.
These activities come amid rising popularity and viewership figures for HALO Esports. Esports Charts reported that the 2024 Arlington Major hit a peak of nearly 110,000 viewers, with FaZe Clan’s matches being part of the top five most-viewed games of the event.
GameSquare CEO Justin Kenna spoke of the partnership, saying, “as our first major collaboration with FaZe Clan officially in the GameSquare ecosystem, we are thrilled to be partnering with 343 Industries to bring the Halo Championship Series to Atlanta.”
Kenna added, “This moment combines for the first time GameSquare’s event production expertise alongside FaZe Clan’s unmatched esports pedigree. Add the iconic Halo universe to the mix, and we believe we have the opportunity to create an unforgettable event for gamers and fans alike.”
This is the first event that FaZe will be hosting after the completion of their acquisition by GameSquare.
