Group stage 2 of DreamLeague S19 began yesterday and OG are among the teams that seem to have found the key to winning matches in the current meta. The game is more unpredictable than ever and even the top competitors can lose, as we’ve already seen.

Team Liquid started stage 2 with a defeat and Gaimin Gladiators, despite winning against Liquid, lost themselves against Shopify Rebellion on day two. The competitive level is high and none of the participants can assume that the next match will be easy, regardless of who the opponent is.

Results so far

OG’s first match was against Shopify Rebellion. No doubt, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein watched the action carefully and was very happy about the result. Whenever your team wins against Tal “Fly” Aizik, you call that a good day. Those who are familiar with the history of these two players will understand better.

After betraying N0tail and OG ahead of The International 8, Fly became a painful memory for the Danish player. And the two of them have been fierce rivals ever since. This story has more drama than the one of Madara and Hashirama. The anime level is over 9000.

Two other teams that won their initial matches were beastcoast and Tundra Esports. For beastcoast, it has become a tradition to beat Evil Geniuses. The two teams face each other quite often because they’re both from South America. This time, beastcoast decided to play nearly identical drafts in games two and three and were successful.

Their Tusk plus Pangolier plus Terrorblade combination proved to be effective against EG, who weren’t far from winning and even had a huge advantage at one point during the final game. But in the end, Terrorblade had all the right items and completely destroyed them.

For Tundra, the match against TSM felt extremely easy. It was as though we were watching the TI Grand Final again, between Tundra and Team Secret. Oliver “skiter” Lepko and his teammates knew exactly what to do and what heroes to pick to counter TMS’s play style. In both games, their Mirana had a massive impact.

The match that finished with the most shocking result was the one between Gaimin Gladiators and Liquid.  We’ve seen Liquid losing to this team multiple times in 2023 but we didn’t expect them to lose again. But somehow, GG won game one in just 25 minutes and then proceeded to end game two in less than 30.

Both times, their drafts were late-game oriented but dominated the early game. The tactics employed were absolutely brilliant.
