Elite League S2 is an $800.000 Dota 2 event that’s currently being played. It started on July 25 and will end on August 4. After this tournament, the teams will have one month to prepare for The International 13, the competition that marks the end of the 2023 – 2024 season.

Elite League Season 2 features 16 teams and many of them are among the world’s best. In particular, Team Liquid, OG, nouns, Shopify Rebellion, HEROIC, beastcoast, BOOM Esports, MOUZ, and Yellow Submarine are worth watching. All of them came here with big ambitions and some have already qualified for the round-robin stage.

Liquid’s Performance

Team Liquid started the Swiss Stage of Elite League S2 with a match against Infinity. This SA team has veterans like Lumiere, who certainly knows a thing or two about Dota. Liquid, however, have a much stronger roster and this became obvious during the key moments of the match.

Despite winning game 2, Infinity lost 2 – 1. Their biggest mistake was picking Invoker in games 1 and 3. This hero is highly sensitive to disturbances and Liquid know exactly how to disrupt their opponent’s farming patterns, putting pressure on core heroes and maintaining initiative.

The second match was almost identical to the first. The score was 2 – 1 and the opponent was 1win, who managed to win game 2 in less than 24 minutes. In the other two games, however, they were outplayed.

To their credit, they came close to winning game 1 and had a 10.000 gold lead at one point. But in the end, Liquid’s superior experience brought them victory.

The third match was played against Shopify Rebellion, who can no longer rely on Arteezy. Without their best player, SR were unable to deal with Liquid’s aggressive strategy.

In both games, Sven was picked merely for the support position. This unusual tactic proved to be very successful and to some extent baited SR into picking the wrong heroes.

OG’s Performance

OG started the tournament with a match against Apex Genesis, an NA team with lots of experienced players. However, because OG are in great shape right now, they managed to win even without their leader. Ceb decided to skip the tournament and was replaced by kaori, who seems to be doing a great job.

The score was 2 – 0 and the match lasted for just one hour. OG picked heroes like Hoodwink, Dragon Knight, and Ember Spirit.

The second match was another big triumph. Yellow Submarine is a team that features one of the best up-and-coming players, Satanic, but the 16-year-old who reached 13.000 MMR in February could not stop his opponents from destroying his team. Game 1 lasted 24 minutes, while game 2 lasted less than 21.

The third match, which brought OG the qualification to the next stage, was played against HEROIC. This team managed to create some problems and won game 1 using Hoodwink and Alchemist. But in the next two games, they got destroyed. OG won game 2 in just 16 minutes. Game 3 needed 34 minutes to conclude.
