Golden Guardians drop ADC Lost

Golden Guardians have parted ways with AD Carry Lawrence “Lost” Hui, and will look for a new bot lane presence for the LCS Summer split.

The 2022 LCS Spring split was all about defying expectations for Golden Guardians. Their roster overhaul, which saw the team add four new players in the 2021 offseason, faced a cool reception from pundits and fans. However, Golden Guardians went on to finish fifth and reach the Spring playoffs.

Despite this achievement, the team announced on Monday that they would be moving on from ADC Lost.

Lost joined the team from TSM during the 2021 offseason but his subpar performances on the Rift mean he is departing after a single split with the Guardians. He averaged the fifth-worst KDA amongst ADCs as well as the second-worst damage share. He also boasted a relatively small champion pool of six and only found sustained success on Aphelios and Jinx.

Strong ADC performances have become a necessity in the LCS, where players at the position will be expected to hold their own against the likes of Evil Geniuses’ Kyle “Danny” Salamaki; Cloud9’s Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol; and Team Liquid’s Steven “Hans sama” Liv.

Lost to Immortals?

Though, Lost may not remain unaffiliated for long. Rumors first reported by Upcomer’s Brieuc Seeger suggest that he is joining fellow LCS side Immortals. Immortals, who finished last in the Spring split, divided ADC duties between Jason “WildTurtle” Tran and Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon. Lost may be seen as an attainable, and perhaps importantly, consistent player in a position of need for the ailing team.

At the time of writing, there is no indication of who Golden Guardians are targetting as a replacement. Notably, the team does not currently have a ADC in their academy system, after releasing Vincent “Violet” Wong last week.
