Swedish esports organization GODSENT announced that Joel “joel” Holmlund would not be part of the team’s active lineup as of next Monday. As a result, the 18-year-old is sent to the team’s bench and will most likely start looking for a new home.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the 2023 CS:GO season and the start of the transition to Counter-Strike 2, GODSENT is beginning to make changes to its lineup. Like this team, others in the competitive scene are also thinking about making them, as they will all want to finish strong for the remainder of 2023, but, most importantly, prepare for the start of the new game era with CS2.

GODSENT announces that Joel is sent to the team’s bench

Through a statement on its official Twitter account, the Swedish organization GODSENT announced that joel would not be part of the team’s active lineup as of next Monday. This means the player will now be inactive and most likely seek new opportunities.

In addition to this announcement, the organization also mentioned that Maikil “Golden” Selim would play as a replacement until they find an ideal player for the team’s starting lineup. This marks the end of joel’s very short tenure with the team, which lasted only five months.

Disappointing 2023 for GODSENT

There is no doubt that this announcement comes due to the terrible and disappointing performance that GODSENT is having in this 2023 season. The team has failed to qualify for any tournament at the highest competitive level, and after their poor results so far, they were left out of the TOP 40 of the HLTV world ranking.

On the other hand, Golden, who comes from the role of Head Coach of the team, will play as the fifth player until the organization gets an ideal replacement for the starting lineup. On the other hand, GODSENT promised to provide more information regarding the new player in due course.

Joel was GODSENT’s best player

What is surprising about this announcement is that joel was the best player (in terms of Average Rating) for GODSENT in 2023. The 18-year-old has a rating of 1.11 in 119 maps played with the team in five months.

Undoubtedly, the team’s best participation was in the BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic 2023, where they finished in the TOP 4 ranking and beat teams like Sprout, BIG, and Heet. In addition, it is worth noting that Joel was the best player of his GODSENT in the semifinal match against Cloud9. Although they lost 0-2, the 18-year-old Swedish player scored 1.33 and an outstanding ADR of 100.5.

While it is true that Joel has had a spectacular individual performance with the team, GODSENT has failed to qualify for any major tournament at the highest level. In addition, they have also failed to reach the final stages of the online tournaments they have played.

On the other hand, GODSENT was left out of the RMR for the Paris Major, and, more recently, the team was eliminated in the Closed Qualifiers for the IEM Dallas 2023 and the ESL Challenger Katowice.

We must wait to see what the future holds for this young Swedish player in the competitive CS:GO scene. On the other hand, GODSENT does not have any major tournaments in the coming weeks, so they have enough time to look for a replacement to fit the team.
