With their win against BIG, GODSENT made it to the semi-finals of the BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic!

Unfortunately, the German team is out of the race after being invited directly to the quarterfinals. GODSENT, one of the teams that dominated the group stage of BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic Swiss with a score of 3-0, defeated world No. 18 BIG in the first round of the playoffs.

It wasn’t enough for BIG

BIG couldn’t hold out against the Swedish team for long and lost 2-1 in the first game of the tournament. The team parted ways with main AWP Florian “syrsoN” Rische in February.

The Germans were one of four teams invited straight to the quarterfinals of the tournament alongside Cloud9, MOUZ and Virtus.pro, while GODSENT survived the first phase with victories over Sprout, Sangal and HEET. Then, in the first round of the playoffs, they defeated the French again, before eventually defeating BIG as well.

BIG will now focus on the upcoming BLAST Premier Spring Showdown which they will open against Rare Atom on March 30th. They will then head to Copenhagen, Denmark in April where they will take part in the BLAST.tv Major’s European RMR.

GODSENT’s convincing performance

GODSENT’s 18-year-old player Joel “joel” Holmlund had put on a breakthrough performance at the tournament. You can see that not only from his previous rating of 1.43, but also from the fact that he was the best player on his team when they beat top 20 team BIG in the quarterfinals. There he got a rating of 1.44 and 100 ADR.

The series started on Anubis, GODSENT’s pick. In the first half, the teams were fairly balanced and the Swedes had a narrow lead of 8:7. But after the change, GODSENT found it extremely difficult and was only able to win one round, which means that the map went to BIG 16:9.

On the second map, Nuke, BIG had problems and could only get 5 rounds in the first half. With 10 rounds, GODSENT had built up a clear lead, with which they only needed 6 rounds for the win in the second half. BIG was able to win 5 rounds, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for a comeback.
