Global Esports, one of the 10 Pacific League partnered teams, plans to assemble a 10-man VALORANT lineup ahead of the 2023 VCT season. Even though Riot’s approval is still needed, the announcement alone was enough to delight the Indian Valorant community.

One of the guidelines Riot Games provided for their VCT partners confined the maximum Valorant roster size to 10 people, including players and coaches. Teams from North America and Europe are still weighing their options for a five-person roster, while Global Esports of the VCT Pacific league has announced a 10-man Valorant roster. Based on their performance and form, the organization will choose six deserving players to represent the team in VCT 2023 Kickoff Tournament, São Paulo in February 2023.

The head of esports at GE, Vatsal “Nightmare2k” Uniyal, explained in a video uploaded on Twitter that the organization would assess potential players based on a variety of factors. In addition to evaluating the players’ mechanical prowess and technical approach, the company will pay close attention to the players’ mindset, capacity for teamwork, and willingness to do the work necessary to compete in top-tier Valorant.  Furthermore, the organization explained the reasons behind the decision of forming a ten-members roster, unveiling its plan to level up Indian talent for the International League.

While many of the partnered organizations are replacing their existing lineup with more established players, Global Esports decide to keep their line-up intact, bringing the Indian core to Korea for VCT 2023 Pacific. Instead of creating a lineup full of foreign players, the organization remains loyal to Indian fans and puts its faith in domestic talent. According to the announcements, the organization plans to assemble a mixed roster consisting of its current Indian core, four new APAC players, and one player from North America or Europe.

At the organization’s Bootcamp, which will be held in Korea, the six new recruits and the existing roster will be mentored and trained together. The organization’s aim is to resolve the enormous talent gap between Indian teams and teams from other regions by allowing Indian players to learn new techniques and playstyles from other Asian players. Whether they make the active roster or not, Indian players will have the chance to practice in Korea, where the Pacific league is based, and learn from the best players in the region.

Since the change needs to be approved by Riot first, the organization has not yet made its full roster composition public. Fans, however, might learn more about Global Esports’ lineup in the coming weeks given that the submission deadline for the roster is already set for October 15.
