Multinational esports organization GIANTX has officially acquired League of Legends AI coaching start-up iTero Gaming in a multimillion-dollar deal.

This strategic acquisition aims to provide GIANTX, its fans, and gamers worldwide with AI-driven performance coaching for the game, based on a report from Esports Insider.

AI-driven coaching integration

With the acquisition of iTero Gaming, GIANTX will integrate AI-driven coaching capabilities into its platform, enhancing the gaming experience for players and fans. This move underscores GIANTX’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies to improve player performance and strategic insights.

Jack Joseph Williams, Founder of iTero Gaming, will join GIANTX as the new Head of Gaming Technology. Launched in September 2022, iTero Gaming has quickly gained traction, with nearly 250,000 installs of its AI-driven LoL coaching app. The start-up’s recognition was further solidified by winning Esports Insider’s 2021 pitch investment competition, The Clutch.

Future prospects

Williams expressed his excitement about joining GIANTX: “I’m excited to be joining the GIANTX team. EXCEL ESPORTS was the first esports team I became a fan of, and I’ve followed their journey over the last few years. I believe data and AI have the potential to seriously disrupt the status quo of esports, whether that’s finding undervalued players or identifying strategies outside of the standard meta.”

Tim Reichert, Co-CEO of GIANTX, commented on the acquisition: “We are thrilled to announce our acquisition of iTero Gaming to help elevate player performance to new heights! This marks a pivotal moment in GIANTX’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in esports, empowering players worldwide to achieve their competitive best. We are excited to harness this new technology to optimize our team’s training during practice and unlock the full potential of our pro players and the global gaming community.”

With the acquisition of iTero Gaming, GIANTX is set to revolutionize esports coaching and player development, leveraging AI technology to provide unparalleled insights and training tools. This acquisition positions GIANTX at the forefront of esports innovation, poised to make significant advancements in competitive gaming.

GIANTX was formed in December last year following the merger of London-based EXCEL ESPORTS and Malaga-based Giants Gaming. The merger retained each team’s talent, rosters, and content creators, allowing GIANTX to compete in League of Legends’ LEC and VALORANT’s EMEA league. Since its formation, GIANTX has renewed several key partnerships, including deals with UK-based bank HSBC UK, car toy brand Hot Wheels, and esports data and analytics company Shikenso Analytics.
