Dark Fantasy Meets Shonen Action
Gachiakuta focuses on a young boy named Rudo living in a dump-like slum under a floating city called “The Sphere.” There are clear societal divisions in Gachiakuta, with everything worthless to the wealth stockpiling trash above, including criminals, sent hundreds of meters down into a dump called “The Pit.” He’s a member of the disenfranchised “tribesfolk” descended from dumped criminals with a strong hatred for the wealth class’ wastefulness.
When he goes home one day, that’s when Rudo’s life takes a tragic turn, when he finds his foster father Regto murdered. Even though he was innocent, someone framed Rudo for the murder and forced him into exile in The Pit.
After they toss Rudo into the Pit, he awakens in a horrible, never-ending wasteland of garbage and horrifying trash monsters quickly attack him. Enjin, a member of the Cleaners, a group of people called “Givers,” rescues Rudo. They have special weapons called “vital instruments” that give them special abilities to fight the monsters. Enjin activates Rudo’s still-dormant powers and recruits him to the Cleaners.
Gachiakuta Anime Premiere Date Revealed
Anime powerhouse Studio Bones announced the anime adaptation of Gachiakuta, which is scheduled to premiere on July 6, 2025. This dark fantasy shonen anime is based on a manga written and illustrated by Kei Urana that has been published as a serialized work since 2022. The anime has plenty of action, emotion, and an urban aesthetic based on graffiti art style. There will be great visual effects with animated action fight scenes that will make everything feel lively.
Besides the July 6 launch date for the broadcast on affiliated stations in Japan, Gachiakuta will also have pre-screenings. This includes 15 different countries across the globe as part of a “World Takeover” campaign.
