Gabe Newell was never present at a CS:GO Major

The owner and creator of Valve, Gabe “Gaben” Newell, has curiously never been present at a CS:GO Major. However, many people expected Gaben to be present at the last CS:GO Major and announce CS2.

In 12 years of CS:GO, Gaben has never been present at a Major

CS:GO fans have noticed Gaben’s absence at Majors during the game’s 12-year history. On Reddit, several users have commented that Valve’s top boss has been present at Dota 2 Majors on different occasions.

However, at the CS:GO Majors, he was not seen even once; Gaben never appeared. Some fans of the title hoped he would appear for the Paris Major, as it was a significant tournament.

Unfortunately, those people’s wishes were not fulfilled, and Gaben was absent at the last CS:GO Major. So in total, Gabe Newell missed 19 of the most important esports events of the game over 12 years.

Although some people expected Gabe to be present in Paris, most fans expected the absence as usual. However, despite expecting the absence of Valve’s owner, many have asked why he avoided these tournaments for so many years.

On Reddit, a debate has arisen where fans of the game comment and look for why the owner of Valve never accompanied professional players in such important events.

On the one hand, some fans comment that Gaben clearly has a favorite title among the developer’s offerings, and it’s certainly not CS:GO.

Even another user comments that Gaben has apparently never really liked CS:GO or the game concept. On the other hand, he comments that he might appreciate the large player base and all the money he can make from them. This user was not at all surprised by Gaben’s absence.

On the other hand, a user comments that in a parallel universe, Gaben would have been at the Paris Major making CS2 announcements. However, the entire community would have taken it as a CS:GO spotlight theft and a farce on Gaben’s part since he had never attended a Major.

While other users comment that they are happy that CS2 is coming in a very short time.

Maybe it will be different in the case of CS2, and Gaben will appear in a Major to completely surprise the community. Many users think that in the 2024 Copenhagen tournament, Gaben could appear; now Counter-Strike is the goose that lays the golden eggs for Valve.
