One of the CS:GO teams that has shown the highest level recently, G2 Esports, has announced that Jan “Swani” Müller has been named the team’s permanent Head Coach.

G2, reigning IEM Katowice 2023 champions, have decided to end Swani’s interim, thanks to the great help he has given the team. It’s no secret to anyone that G2 Esports had a spectacular end to the 2022 season and start to 2023. However, recently the team has not been fortunate enough to succeed in top-level tournaments such as the ESL Pro League S17.

G2 Esports announce Swani as the team’s permanent Head Coach

Just a few days before the start of the BLAST.tv Paris Major, where G2 Esports is undoubtedly one of the big favorites, the organization announced through a very funny video that Swani is staying permanently as Head Coach of the team.

This is nothing more than a reward for Swani, who had a successful six months as the team’s interim Head Coach. Swani arrived at G2 Esports in October 2022 following the departure of Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam and has done nothing but lead the team to several consecutive successes.

In the last six months, G2 Esports, as mentioned, has enjoyed many successes in top-level tournaments. The French team has become champion in the last two tournaments organized by BLAST, the World Final 2022 and the Spring Groups 2023, in addition to the IEM Katowice 2023. In addition, the team had, at the time, a spectacular streak of 13 wins in a row in offline matches. However, this streak ended in the semifinals of the ESL Pro League S17 Upper Bracket.

About Swani

Swani’s coaching career in the CS:GO scene has been at a high level. He has been part of teams like Team Liquid, SK Gaming, MIBR, FURIA, and G2 Esports. He has a great resume and enough experience to permanently take charge of this star-studded team.

Swani signed with G2 Esports in 2019 as the team’s analyst. Then, in 2021, he was promoted to Interim Coach of the team for the first time when Damien “maLeK” Marcel left the organization. Finally, at the beginning of 2022, he was moved to Assistant Coach, taking over as the team’s official Head Coach last May 1.

The 28-year-old German had to take over the team at its most difficult time, as G2 failed to qualify for the IEM Rio Major. However, the team’s preparation was spectacular, and they managed to win the big-level tournaments at the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.

Now, the team managed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major for the Challengers Stage and will play their first match against TheMongolz on May 8, 2023.
