In the early weeks of November, Riot Games officially announced a League of Legends standalone tournament exclusively for women who are interested in playing professionally. The tournament is free to participate to those above 16 years of age with the aim to promote inclusion and more opportunities in esports. The tournament also featured a prize pool of £3,000 and was played on the weekend of November 25-27. The tournament was also partnered with GGTech, a technology company and NEUL, a UK esports organiser and it was also streamed on their Twitch channel.
Format, Favourites & The Champion
The tournament featured a double-elimination bracket, all matches were played Best of 1 with the exception of Upper Bracket Finals, Lower Bracket Finals and the Grand Finals — those matches were played Best Of 3. The top four teams that competed in the tournament split their fair share of the £3,000 prize pool.
Going into the tournament, there were 7 fan favourites teams to win it all. G2 Hel was one of them along with SK Gaming Avarosa, QLASH Midnight, Zerolag Female, Lionscreed Female, HOUMI and French Fries.

Before the grand finals, QLASH Midnight had built up a lot of momentum, this reflected in their first match against G2 Hels where G2 Hel was sent to the lower bracket finals. At the Grand Finals G2 Hel finally took their revenge on QLASH Midnight after they got knocked down in the Upper Finals. G2 Hel with their talented roster proved they were the clear favourites of the tournament by wiping QLASH Midnight 2 – 0 in the grand finals.

Rising Hopes
Overall, the tournament can be considered a success as 31 teams with all female players came together to show their passion and fight for the prize pool, G2 Hel came out on the top at the tournament. Fans and players hope that this success could transition from a 2 day tournament to its own circuit for the global women’s tournament and it seems that the hope could become a reality. Prior to the tournament, Riot Games also had a similar all-women circuit for VALORANT that the Rising Stars is based on, even with the statistics being a bit late, there were 19 381 viewers tuning in to watch the final series of the tournament. The organisers of the tournament also express their gratitude to those who participated, watched and supported the tournament.
