Despite trailing behind in the group stage and getting beaten by both SK Gaming and Team BDS, G2 Esports proved their worth in the playoffs and won 3 – 0 against Fnatic.
SK Gaming’s lack of experience became quite obvious in the best-of-three match format. As for BDS, they also looked a bit insecure. However, they ended up finishing 3rd, unlike SK, who finished 5th after dominating the group stage.
Thanks to this victory, G2 are guaranteed a spot at Worlds 2024. Fnatic currently have 330 points, while Team BDS and MAD Lions KOI have 295 and 200 respectively.

As I mentioned before, G2’s group stage performance was not spectacular. It wasn’t bad, but their 7 W – 2 L record proved to be sufficient only for the 3rd place. SK Gaming and Team BDS won with 8 W – 1 L.
In the playoffs, G2 started in the upper bracket with a match against Karmine Corp, a team that would go on to eliminate SK Gaming in the lower bracket. This later result makes G2’s victory even more relevant. Both games were difficult but in the end, Caps and his crew managed to come on top using champions like Leona, Renekton, and Varus.
In their next match, G2 finally met BDS again, one of the teams that had defeated them in the group stage. But this time, G2 were much better prepared. In the two games, they did not repeat a single champion and managed to surprise their opponents, gradually building their gold advantage until it became insurmountable.
The upper bracket Final saw G2 playing against Fnatic. The two teams know each other well because each of them won the European league many times. In this particular match, Fnatic managed to win 3 – 2, largely thanks to their Azir plus Sejuani combo, which they used twice, in games 2 and 3. Both times, they were successful with it.
After this defeat, G2 had to replay BDS but this time in a best-of-five match. Despite losing game 1 against Lucian, they ended up winning the match 3 – 1 by picking Miss Fortune three times in a row. Coupled with Corki, this champion proved to be everything that G2 needed to disrupt the combos of BDS.
The Grand Final was expected to be a five-game spectacle but G2 were so well prepared after the first match that they won without losing a single game.
