According to reports this week, G2 Esports are closing in on the arrival of Remy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam, with the current Team Vitality coach set to join the organization in 2022. Speculation initiated from 1pv.fr, with XTQZZZ set to follow both Richard “shox” Papillon and Jayson “Kyojin” Nguyen Van in leaving Vitality in the coming weeks.

We already know that Vitality will replace the trio with former Astralis favorites, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Emil “Magisk” Reif and Danny “zonie” Sorsenen. With Vitality having confirmed that they will be undergoing a significant roster rebuild in the new year, their lineup will have a very different feel to it in 2022, with the departure of XTQZZZ arguably being the most significant. The org’s performances at the Intel Extreme Masters Winter and BLAST Premier: World Final were good ways to end.

Why G2 Are Also Completing a Roster Rebuild

With G2 having parted ways with head coach Damien “maLeK” Marcel back in November, the org has been on the lookout for a suitable replacement. It has been a busy period for G2, who, like Vitality, are also in the middle of reshaping their roster. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov is expected to arrive from Natus Vincere, with the junior sniper likely to be joined by current OG in-game leader Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen.

The Finnish 24-year-old’s arrival could well be announced in the coming days, with negotiations having been ongoing between all parties for a number of weeks, according to reports. Aleksib would replace Nemanja “nexa” Isakovic on the G2 roster. Should the rumors come to fruition, the G2 Esports CS:GO roster would be made up by Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač, Audric “JaCkz” Jug, m0NESY, “Aleksib”.

Why XTQZZZ & Aleksib Would Be Good Signings by G2

Both XTQZZZ would be good additions to the G2 setup. XTQZZZ has turned Vitality to one of the best teams in the region, with the org having won the IEM Beijing Online: Europe, Blast Premier: Fall 2020 and IEM Winter during his time in charge. It remains to be seen as to how his departure will impact France’s most successful Esports team over recent years.

As for Aleksib, the the former ENCE pro has also won several leading events during his career. The Finn finished as runner-up at the IEM Katowice Major 2019, only missing out on the title following a defeat to Astralis in the grand finals. G2 finished second at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 just last month, losing to Natus Vincere in the final.
