G2 Esports has confirmed the arrival of Aleksander “Zeek” Zygmunt, with the former Fortnite pro having joined their VALORANT roster ahead of the Champions Tour. While many other organizations have raided the CS:GO scene to make up their VALORANT lineups, G2 have opted for ex-Fortnite favorite Zeek.

Why Zeek Switched From Fortnite to VALORANT

Zeek has most recently been playing for AGO Esports, having also competed under the banner of Dynamind during his time in the Fortnite scene. The Polish player will link up with G2 immediately, becoming the latest Fortnite pro to make the switch to VALORANT from battle royale. However, Zeek is certainly not new to VALORANT, having played the Riot Games shooter since its closed beta became available in April last year.

The Pole has also featured for different teams in the VALORANT Ignition Series, including with his native Nolpeki, also known as Those Guy. In fact, it was thanks, in part, to Zeek that the team was able to qualify for the European VALORANT First Strike event. Despite the team eventually being knocked out by FunPlus Phoenix, the tournament demonstrated that newcomers to the scene, including Zeek, should not be overlooked.

Why G2 Has Moved Quickly to Make Roster Changes

G2 Esports were disappointing during the First Strike series, which came as a surprise given its dominance during the Ignition Series events. G2 were unbeaten in tournament matches in VALORANT up until the First Strike event, winning every competition in which they entered. However, a shock defeat at the hands of Team Heretics at the semi-final stages meant that G2 were sent home early.

It was such disappointment that led to the organization making changes to its lineup, including the release of Davidp, who had previously been a mainstay in its VALORANT lineup. Zeek is now expected to fill the void left by Davidp, where he will join up with some other new arrivals at G2.

The organization has recently announced that Neil “nEiLZiNHo” Finlay will act as their new VALORANT head coach, with G2 now looking to be in a stronger position ahead of the Champions Tour.
