Aching to etch their names in the history of CS2, the team emerged victorious over Natus Vincere (NAVI) in a 3-1 series. With this triumph, the team earned their second major title for this year, 2024. 

Breaking the Curse: G2’s Path to Victory

An intense battle broke out across the four maps that led to G2’s triumphant conquest. This also broke their nine-match losing streak against the opposing team, NAVI. Indeed, a poetic win occurred in the CS2 BLAST Premier Grand Finals 2024. 

G2 take the lead in this exciting and nerve-wracking grand finals game one. malbsMd triggered fire early to earn a triple kill with pistol in G2’s map pick, Ancient. However, NAVI quickly caught up to make a strong finish in the first round. Yet, the push-pull match ended up in favor of G2, as they secured the win in the next rounds. The map ended with a score of 16-11 under the lead of Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.  

On the other hand, a masterclass performance played out from Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and m0NESY. With their synergy and individual stellar plays, they earned them another 16-11 in Dust2. This placed them 2-0 ahead of NAVI in the match series, a step away from the tournament title.  

However, NAVI did not let them end the match early, as they made a bounce back for Game 3. Mirage breathed life into NAVI to make the ultimate comeback from a 1-9 deficit. With this performance, they clinched the win 16-14 to set up the match for Game 4.

NAVI started the Game 4 heated up to fire attacks while G2 pushed back with determination. The close-contested match showed several momentum shifts between teams as they traded rounds. Yet, G2 proved its resilience in Inferno as they secured the much-needed win. m0NESY showed his prowess to seal the championship for G2. Moreover, young AWPer’s maturity shone through in the tense 1v2 situation as his precision and reflexes outplayed NAVI. G2 celebrated the win and title with a 13-7 scoreline.

G2 displayed impressive synergy to take home another championship win. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov is the standout player of this series. His determination and passion broke through to end the grand finals scoreline in 77-48. He serves as a crucial piece to secure key rounds for G2 in their championship bid. 

Besides him, Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa makes history in the BLAST Premier tournament. His name is written in the CS2 history books as the first Guatemalan player to lift a major Counter-Strike trophy. He became instrumental in their successful run as he earned a 67-54 statline across the four-game series.

Moreover, chemistry explodes between Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and m0NESY to be the center of talks in the community. They definitely belong to the list of formidable duos in the professional scene of CS2. Aside from these, Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski resurgence serves as one of the highlights of the tournament. 

The Polish veteran earned criticism left and right upon joining the team. However, he responded in the best way by leading his team to this major title win. With this, Snax earned his first major Lan victory after the ESL One New York 2018.
