The epic battle between ten teams for the title of champion has come to a conclusion. G2 defeated Fnatic in the finals of the LEC spring split 2022 to take the crown of champions.

G2 entered the finals with an undefeated 12-0 series run in the lower bracket. In the last three series, they haven’t dropped a single match and have advanced to the playoffs by sweeping Team Vitality, Misfit Gaming, and Fnatic in the lower brackets. Rogue, on the other hand, dominated Misfit and Fnatic in the upper bracket to reach the finals.

G2 had the upper hand in the finals, and they got off to a fast start in game one. Caps stormed through Rogue’s defenses with his Ahri pick, and with Ahri’s ultimate, he took out many Rogue players to take control of the game.

Within the first 20 minutes of the game, the Caps went on a massive power spike. Comp, on his Jinx, was the only one who kept Rogues’ hopes alive but only for a short time. Caps continued to press and put the Rogues’ defenses to the test until they finally gave up.
Caps walked out of his first performance with an 8/0/4 KDA, assisting the team in winning the round and taking a 1-0 lead over Rogue.

For game two, Ahri was taken off the table, making way for Corki vs. Azir, the fan’s favorite mid-lane matchup. Rogue appeared to be making a comeback in this series by sneaking a Baron past G2, but the team failed to maintain the momentum. Targamas applied his W to Caps to increase his attack and mobility speed. That’s precisely what Caps needed to seal the win and establish a 2-0 lead.

In round three, Rogue attempted a comeback and established an early lead by destroying the G2 in the bot lane. Rogue focused all of their efforts on preventing Caps from leveling up, while a team fight led by Targamas’ Pyke and BrokenBlade’s Ornn shifted the tide back to G2.

Caps, Targamas, and Brokenblade’s combined efforts lead Team G2 to a magnificent championship victory. Even after being relegated to the lower bracket early in the playoffs, the squad went on a “Monstrous” winning streak, smashing every opponent until they claimed the trophy with a 12-0 victory.

With this victory, G2 has secured a berth at the Mid-Season Invitation and will represent LEC on the international stage, which begins on May 9th in Busan, South Korea.
