Funtap Games to become MLBB’s VN publisher

Vietnamese game company Funtap Games has been named the publisher of the popular mobile MOBA game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in Vietnam.

As part of the deal with MLBB developer MOONTON Games, Funtap Games will develop the title in the country and organize esports tournament ecosystems.

Building an Esports Ecosystem in Vietnam

Funtap Games will collaborate with the Vietnam Entertainment Esports Association (VIRESA) to create an esports ecosystem featuring grassroots initiatives and tournaments for semi-professional and professional teams. The partnership aims to increase opportunities for women to compete in international tournaments.

 

In addition to building an ecosystem, VIRSEA and Funtap Games will select members of the Vietnam national team to compete in regional and international MLBB tournaments. This collaboration comes after the game ceased availability in Vietnam in January 2024 when VNG, a Vietnamese technology company, pulled its support due to competition from other MOBA titles.

Re-launching Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

With the new partnership, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will be re-released in the Vietnamese market. The game continues to strengthen its position as one of the largest mobile esports titles globally. In June, MLBB creators MOONTON Games expanded its partnership with Saudi Arabian megaproject Qiddiya to grow the game’s esports ecosystem worldwide.

Established in 2017, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports serves as a platform for players to pursue their dreams of becoming esports athletes and illuminate opportunities within the international esports ecosystem. MLBB Esports has since expanded to multiple leagues, including the MPL series hosted in Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Latin America.

The republishing of MLBB could not have come at a more opportune time, as the game has already amassed over 1.465 billion installations and 110 million active monthly users, based on data from MOONTON Games. MLBB is also among the top 10 most played in over 80 countries. With an extensive reach across the Asia Pacific region, the multiplayer is available in 139 countries with an expansive global esports presence.
