Fortnite x Toy Story: Dataminers Find Woody and Buzz Lightyear Skins Hidden in Latest Update Files

The files are there, the assets are named, and the collaboration looks far more advanced than a simple placeholder – Pixar is coming to Fortnite.

How the Leak Surfaced

Known Fortnite leaker Hypex brought the discovery to light in late March 2026 following the release of update v40.10. After dataminers combed through the new game files, references to multiple Toy Story characters began surfacing – complete with fully named assets rather than the vague, incomplete entries that typically indicate early-stage development. The level of detail found in the files suggests this collaboration is not in its infancy. It is close.

The leak follows a familiar pattern for Fortnite. Epic Games rarely announces crossovers far in advance, preferring to let the content speak for itself at launch. By the time dataminers find assets this polished and this specifically labeled, an official announcement tends to follow within weeks rather than months.

What the Files Actually Contain

The discovered content centers on skins based on Woody and Buzz Lightyear, the two most recognizable characters from Pixar’s Toy Story franchise. Alongside the character skins, the files contain themed accessories and emotes that reference iconic moments from the films – the kind of detail that confirms Epic is building a full crossover package rather than a single standalone cosmetic. No loading screens or back bling have been confirmed through the leak, but the depth of the existing assets makes additional items likely.

The Toy Story content appears inside the same update as references to other unrelated collaborations, which is standard practice for Epic. The studio routinely bundles multiple partnership assets into a single update cycle, keeping each at varying stages of completion to stagger announcements and releases across different weeks.

Why Toy Story Makes Sense for Fortnite Right Now

Fortnite’s collaboration history reads like a who’s who of global entertainment. Marvel, Star Wars, DC, Dragon Ball, and dozens of other major properties have made their way into the game over the years. Disney properties in particular have always performed strongly within the Fortnite ecosystem, both commercially and in terms of community engagement.

Toy Story is one of Pixar’s most universally recognized franchises, spanning four films and more than three decades of cultural presence. Its characters carry instant recognition across age groups – exactly the kind of broad appeal that makes a Fortnite crossover work both for longtime players and for parents buying skins for younger kids. The timing also aligns with Disney’s ongoing push to keep its classic IP active and visible across gaming platforms, a strategy that has accelerated noticeably over the past two years.

No official release date for the Toy Story content has been announced, and Epic has not commented on the leak. Given the state of the assets found in v40.10, however, the wait is unlikely to be long.
