In what is another negative piece of news for Fortnite, one of the games biggest names has been issued a warning for match fixing and colluding. Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf took to Twitter to reveal that he had received a warning upon entering the game, in what is the latest in a long line of allegations.

Professionals including Bucke, Slackes, Keys and Kreo all received 30-day bans during Chapter 2 – Season 2, with the quartet having been accused of collusion during the Fortnite Champion Series Warmup event. Meanwhile, FaZe Dubs and Waffles were also found guilty by Epic Games, with the duo also receiving lengthy bans as a result.

Bugha the Biggest Name to Be Accused

The news that broke surrounding Bugha was especially interesting, given the fact that he is the first Fortnite solo World Champion whose reputation has been thrown into question. While the details of his rule breaking are still unknown, Bugha was issued with a competitive warning, with the 17-year-old having been told to refrain from repeat offences in order to avoid a ban.

Bugha took to social media to question his warning, with Epic Games having so far not provided the former World Champion or fans with any evidence. Fortnite enthusiasts have been quick to carry out an investigation of their own, with one Twitter user suggesting that an infringement could have been made during Round Two of the final FNCS Qualifier, with Bugha having instructed fellow player “OwlFN” to “sh*t on this kid Owl.” After being eliminated by “Co1azo”.

As such, the warning received could well have been as a result of the duo communicating during a solo tournament, however OwlFN has defended his actions by revealing that himself and Bugha had been fighting early on in the game. The situation regarding collusion is a little tricky to get your head around, with Chapter 2 – Season 3 rules being as follows:

  • Teaming: Players working together during the match while on opposing teams.
  • Planned Movement: Agreement between 2 or more opposing players to land at specific locations or to move through the map in a planned way before the match begins.
  • Communication: Sending or receiving signals (both verbal and non-verbal) to communicate with opposing players.
  • Item Dumping: Intentionally dropping items for an opposing player to collect.
  • Feeding: Intentionally allowing oneself to be eliminated by an opposing player.

What Happens Next?

If they continue to operate as they have done in the past, Epic Games are unlikely to address the warning unless Bugha opens a support case, however it could be worthwhile in this case, especially given events that have put a cloud over Fortnite over recent times.
