The International Olympic Committee(IOC) has included Fortnite as an esports title in the Olympics. The top 12 teams emerging from Fortnite Champion Series(FNCS) will be able to represent themselves in the upcoming Summer Olympics esports series.

Including Fortnite as an esports title in the Olympics will provide an excellent opportunity for the game’s most skilled players to showcase their talent on a global stage. This decision marks a historic moment for the gaming industry and further solidifies the growing influence of esports in the international sporting landscape. Here is everything we know about the Fortnite shooting tournament in the Olympics esports series.

Fortnite will be added to the Olympics, but not as Battle Royale

Fortnite is set to debut at the Olympics Esports, but not as a battle royale. Instead, 12 players from the Fortnite Champion Series will compete in Singapore, organized by the International Olympic Committee. The event will focus on accuracy and shooting targets on a specially designed-island. The winner won’t be the last player standing, but whoever displays the best aim. This information was reported by the BBC.

The reason for excluding the battle royale mode from Fortnite at the Olympics is unclear, but the committee may believe that virtual games should reflect real-world sports. Unlike sports that involve fighting to the last person standing, the shooting competition in Fortnite more closely resembles physical sports such as archery or shooting.

Fortnite’s new creative mode features flashy mechanical boss fights, making the Olympic shooting arena recreation seem dull and uninteresting to watch. Nevertheless, the inclusion of Fortnite in the Olympics as an esports title is a significant achievement that will likely excite young and adult players. The Fortnite event will take place on Saturday, June 24th, as part of the full Olympic Esports Series running from June 22nd-25th.
