Esports organization EXCEL Esports has announced the arrival of Jacob “Verox” Gibler, with the English pro having joined their Fortnite roster. With EXCEL clearly going all-in surrounding Fortnite, the org has also confirmed the addition of Freeman “FreeMedou” Williams as Fortnite Manager. FreeMedou will work in offering support to players.

Verox has made a name for himself as one of the leading Fortnite players in Europe over recent months, having made seven appearances at the FNCS Finals. He also recorded a third-place finish in Season X, before winning the DreamHack Open Solo Finals. With ten top placements at Fortnite Cash Cup events, it is easy to see why EXCEL were attracted to Verox.

When will we see Verox in EXCEL colours?

The Englishman is set to make his debut under the banner of EXCEL Esports at the Fortnite Championship Series Chapter 2 Season 7, which gets underway on July 29. EXCEL entered the Fortnite scene in 2020, having signed Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman, the youngest Esports pro to win $1 million. During his time at EXCEL to date, Wolfiez has won a host of tournaments, while also finishing second at the Fortnite Champion Series Invitational, taking home $125,000 in prize money in the process.

EXCEL has also enhanced its reputation by announcing Tottenham Hotspur and England soccer star Dele Alli as a global ambassador. Speaking on their latest addition, Kieran Holmes-Darby, EXCEL Esports Co-Founder and Chief Gaming Officer, stated that:

“At EXCEL we are committed to nurturing the best talent so when the opportunity to sign a home-grown player like Verox came up we knew we had to take it. Verox is an extremely talented individual and has shown an incredible amount of consistency over recent periods. Fortnite is a fantastic game title that is constantly changing, keeping it fresh for viewers of the competitive side of the game and I can’t wait to see Verox rocking the XL tag at his next tournament.”

What Verox had to say on his arrival at EXCEL

Meanwhile, Verox has also spoken of his excitement at joining the org, stating that: “What drew me to signing with EXCEL was knowing that they have a great performance coaching structure and facilities where I can practice. I am also looking forward to growing as a player and working with EXCEL to create some great content to share with my fans.”
