New Fortnite leaks reveal that the revival system in the game’s Chapter 7 might undergo major changes. Dataminers report that Epic Games is testing a feature that would enable players to operate Reboot Vans, and also hints at a self-revive mechanism. Although these points haven’t been validated by the official sources, the talking points among the leakers who are on the same wavelength, and the community reaction, is a big flame of discussion.

At the moment, Reboot Vans act as fixed revival points. Players are required to locate their teammate’s Reboot Card in the area and then, through an interaction with the Van, bring them back. The encrypted news indicates that these vans would become mobile vehicles that can be driven to safer places before the actual act of revival. It would be a huge change in the strategy of gaming, particularly in the ending circles of the game, which are usually very risky because that’s where the revive spots are fixed.
In such a case, teams with access to drivable vans could safely go to an area free of enemies and complete the revival of their teammate, thus making it difficult for the rival squad to execute them in a predictable location. At the same time, it might lead to the creation of new tactics where one can take hold of the enemy’s reboot card and then escape to the area they control before doing the revival.
Potential Self-Revive System
Besides the van alterations, leaks hint at a self-revive attribute that would make a player able to turn himself on without assistance from a teammate. The source indicates that the operation is performed with tokens that one can collect, or something along those lines. It can completely change the survivability of a player when he is separated from the squad, thus adding a new dimension to survival tactics.
On the other hand, pacing and balancing of the game can suffer from this particular play element. Time to time, players may feel stimulations are longer than before, eliminations become less evident, and risky plays will be rewarded more if the balance is not maintained.
Community and Competitive Impact

If implemented, these elements would dramatically alter the casual as well as competitive gameplay. Moving around the revival point would allow greater freedom and fluidity in the tactics of the squad, but doing so in the late stages of the game might as well bring more pressure on the players as the number of available reboot spots reaches its climax. Competitive players might on the other hand argue that self-revives make the loss of skill due to the reduced team coordination less impactful.

Not Yet Confirmed
The studio behind Fortnite has not confirmed the existence of these features, indicating that the new gameplay elements are still in development and might not even make it to the final version. The situation is similar to that of other tests in the early stages of production, where location and timing are a big question mark.
It would be smart of them to implement these ideas in Chapter 7 as it would be one of the most important overhauls in Fortnite history, offering a wide range of new tactical options while still challenging players to adjust to the changing flow of the matches.
