The Formula E Accelerate Championship returns for season 9, with a great prize purse reaching €40k.

The qualifiers will be online for this new edition of the Formula E Accelerate 2023, while the finals will be played live. In addition, it seems that the new Gen3 single-seater could arrive for this edition.

All about the ninth season of Formula E Accelerate

As mentioned, in this new edition of Formula E, all drivers will fight for a share of the €40k prize money.

Today, April 14, the open qualifiers begin, where the top 88 drivers will fight to advance to the next two rounds. Rome and Berlin will host the next two rounds.

In each round, a fast lap will be contested, qualification races, and a hot lap where the drivers will fight to qualify for the finals.

Finally, the best eleven drivers will get a place in the grand final, which will be held in London and take place on the same weekend as the E-Prix.

However, all fans will be able to enjoy the final as it will be broadcasted on YouTube as in previous editions.

Prize purse distribution

The total prize purse will be divided for each Formula E Accelerate season phase. In each phase in Berlin and Rome, € 10k will be distributed, while in the finals, € 20k will be distributed.

Formula E Accelerate schedule

The first qualifying round in Berlin is scheduled for April 18. At the same time, the grand finale of the LAN-based championship will take place on July 29, 2023.

New Gen3 single-seater

Thanks to some publications made on Twitter by the tournament organizer, it is confirmed that it seems they could show the newest vehicle for the grand final. But, of course, we are talking about the Gen3 single-seater that is designed for rFactor2 simulations.

The studio in charge of developing these single-seaters is Studio 397; they are responsible for providing first and second-generation vehicles. It is also responsible for the official rFactor2 simulator.

According to Formula E’s Twitter post, Gen3 seems to be the simulator used in the tournament. These simulators can reach up to 350 kW of power, surpassing their predecessor by 100 kW. In addition, they are much lighter single-seaters and do not use rear brakes.

It has not been confirmed by the studio that developed it, but it would not be the first time that Formula E is used to show the new content that will arrive for rFactor 2.
