Yanis “Striker” Kella, former Head Coach of Karmine Corp, has made some statements that have generated a lot of controversy in the last hours about the departure of Martin “Rekkles” Larsson from the team during the 2023 offseason.

Striker pointed out that behavioral problems and disagreements regarding some opinions were the causes of Rekkles’ departure from the organization during the offseason.

Striker’s controversial statements

After a 2022 season where Karmine Corp did not meet the expectations raised, Rekkles decided to separate from the team to join Fnatic last December 15.

A few hours ago, some surprising statements by the former Head Coach of Karmine Corp, Striker, mentioned the different reasons why the team stagnated in the Summer Split in a question-and-answer session on Twitch.

Recall that Rekkles and KCorp announced that signing the Swedish player was a “long-term” decision in early 2022. But that dream has been completely dashed. Strike mentioned in his broadcast that the organization’s coaching staff did not want to continue with Rekkles for the 2023 season, citing a divergence of opinions.

According to Striker, Rekkles had:

“Unconscionable reactions, lack of respect for the institution, refusal to do double scrim sessions and other attitudes that did not help the organization’s development.”

This broadcast was joined by different messages from fans via Twitter, of which stands out:

“Not to defend Rekkles, but rather to say that if he behaved shitty, there should have been an effective and mature reaction from the coaches to put him back in place. So ok he did wrong, but behind there is room to discuss and frame him.”

Similarly, Strike also mentioned that some behavioral problems on Rekkles’ part led him to alert him. Still, the technical staff could not take disciplinary measures to find a solution.

Striker continued his attacks toward Rekkles, saying:

“If you bench him, you can’t transfer him the following season because people understand he’s problematic. So there was no fit solution for the ongoing year nor the offseason.”

The fan reaction prompted Striker to elaborate on the matter

Rekkles fans reacted by supporting the player on social networks. That is why Striker mentioned different situations that led to the squad getting out of control little by little.

Strike said Rekkles refused to play scrims or attend team training events, such as:

“Attending a team dinner because his cab wasn’t ready when he left the airport.”

In the streaming, Striker said that the atmosphere generated by the team’s negative thinking and lack of motivation was why the team stalled in the Summer Split. In addition, he mentioned that Rekkles never agreed with the choice of Yuumi as Bot Laner.

Another intimate detail he revealed was that the team had many problems selecting shot-calling in the bot lane. When these problems arose, the team floundered.

Finally, Striker said:

“I tried to fight the negativity because it didn’t allow us to perform, especially towards the end of the spring. However, it proved useful because we won the EUM, although the summer didn’t go well.”
