FlyQuest’s Regular Season Dominance

While FlyQuest winning the championship wasn’t the outcome expected by many, they actually had consistent performances to back it up. Before their championship victory, FlyQuest dominated the regular season with an impressive, undefeated Group Stage run.

The team’s synergy just became more and more evident the further they got throughout the Split. Individually, FlyQuest players still occupied all five positions on the first-team All-Pro roster, showing that they have both solo and team skills needed to succeed. Then, when the time came for the grand final, it only became apparent how truly capable this team is.

The Dramatic Nailbiter

The championship match on June 16, 2025 delivered everything fans could hope for. Both teams clearly gave their best in this series, with some outstanding feats from individual players. The grand final began with FlyQuest taking an early lead, but Cloud9 quickly responded by winning games two and three.

In Game 3, Cloud9’s ADC Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen particularly stood out. It was his dominant 15/1/14 showing on Senna that got his team ahead 2-1. This put Cloud9 only one victory away from the title. However, FlyQuest showed their championship mettle by forcing a decisive fifth game.

Game 5 proved to be the most intense game of the series with both teams trading blows throughout the match. However, Cloud9 held a slight advantage for most of the contest. However, the fight started favoring FlyQuest when they were able to get four Chemtech Drakes and a Baron, enough to push to Cloud9’s base and take down one Nexus turret.

The turning point came when Cloud9 attempted to secure Elder Drake while two of FlyQuest’s members were down. However, FlyQuest’s response was not to force a 3v5 fight, but to sneakily execute a backdoor play with double teleports from Bwipo and Quad.

It was too late for the Cloud9 members to stop the duo’s onslaught toward their last Nexus tower and the Nexus itself. With FlyQuest’s cunning move, the series concluded with an unexpected victory. Thus, the FlyQuest MSI 2025 journey was officially set to begin.

A Controversial Final Game

It’s not as much a controversy as it was an additional proof of FlyQuest’s ability to turn losing games around. In Game 5, a technical error incorrectly awarded the Feat of Warfare buff to Cloud9 instead of FlyQuest, despite the latter reaching three kills first. In a tight series and a decisive final match, this advantage could have influenced the outcome in favor of Cloud9.

However, as neither of the two teams called for a pause to address this error, the match had to continue and was considered valid and official. Even with this error unfairly denying FlyQuest the statistical buff, the fact that they managed to go toe-to-toe with Cloud9 in multiple fights truly proved their skill.

FlyQuest is now bound for MSI 2025 , where they hope to replicate their mind-blowing 2024 Worlds performance. Last year, this same roster pushed Gen.G to five games in the quarterfinals, quickly rising as a legitimate international threat. Their unconventional and creative drafting and strategy became the talk of the town when they started playing very skillfully around team compositions that catch opposing teams off-guard.

Both FlyQuest and Cloud9 have also secured invitations to the Esports World Cup later this year. This additional international opportunity means North American fans will see both teams compete on the global stage throughout 2025.
